if terrorists were attacking your people?

What would you do…

Page 3: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

In the past three years

over 900 Israelis were murdered in terrorist attacks.

Page 4: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

Palestinian terrorist attacks have included:

Page 5: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

• Most of the terrorists come from the West Bank.• The Palestinian leadership is doing nothing to stop the terrorists and even encourages them.

• Currently there is no physical barrier that can stop them.• There are no terrorist infiltrations from Gaza because a security fence already exists there.

Page 6: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

Until there is peace

Israel needs a temporary defensive measure to block terrorist infiltration -

The security fence.

Page 7: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

It will keep terrorists out of Israeli cities and towns.

It will save lives.

What will the security fence do?

Page 8: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

•establish a border of any kind.

•annex any Palestinian lands to Israel.

•change the legal status of any Palestinians.

•prevent Palestinians from going about their lives.

The security fence will not …

The fence will not create permanent facts on the ground.

Page 9: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

It’s mostly a chain-link fence

supported by high-tech and other intruder prevention systems

And what is the security fence?

Page 10: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence
Page 11: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

More than 95% is a chain-link fence and not the concrete barrier usually shown on TV (and that only where a concrete structure is absolutely necessary).

The security fence is a fence, not a “wall”.

Page 12: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

• The route was determined by security needs, as well as the local topographical conditions.

• The route places a barrier in the path of terrorists, as the Palestinian leadership refuses to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure.

• The final border will be determined by negotiations.

Where will the security fence go?

Page 13: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

• The fence will go on public lands, wherever possible.

• When private lands are used, they remain the property of the owners, who receive compensation for their use. Compensation is offered both in a lump sum and on a monthly basis.

• Palestinian farmers will have access to their fields.

Land Use

Page 14: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

Dozens of crossing points have been set up to allow the free movement of people and goods.

Special gates will allow farmers to reach their fields.

Humanitarian Needs

Page 15: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

Most Palestinians will remain on the eastern side of the fence.

Every effort will be made to avoid causing hardship and interference with their daily lives.

The Palestinians will not be cut off from their commercial and urban centers.

Page 16: Saving Lives: Israel’s Security Fence

There would have been no security fence had there been no terrorism which has killed hundreds of innocent victims.Death caused by terrorism is permanent.Inconvenience caused by the fence is temporary.

Saving lives must always come first!

The right of Palestinians to freedom of movement cannot take precedence over the right of Israelis to live.
