Hurley was dumped outside of
the kennel with his littermates at
6 weeks of age. He was adopted
to a Tech student who seemed
very nice, but when it was time
for him to move, he decided he
couldn’t take Hurley with him
and dropped him back off to us.
Unfortunately, this is a common
occurrence.
Luckily for Hurley, he found a
much better home. A very
sweet family, the Fullers, came
across Hurley at a PetSmart
adoption event. He lives as a
part of their loving family along
with his new best friend, Bula.
He enjoys walks with his new
owners and playing in anyone’s
sprinkler that he walks by. Hur-
ley also loves playing with toys,
especially his squeaky foot. He
likes to chew, which has some-
times gotten him into trouble,
especially when it is one of Bula’s
stuffed animals :)).
His new owners have this to say
about him:
“We are glad to have Hurley in
our lives. He is such a sweet and
loving dog!. He is a wonderful
addition to our family. He has
changed our opinion of Pit Bulls/
Pit mixes .
Hurley and his new sister and
best friend Bula.

Tips to Avoid Puppy
Mills if You Decide to
Buy Versus Adopt: Always go to the breeders
facility-inspect the dog’s
living conditions. If you see a
large number of dogs/
puppies who are sick/injured
or are living in disgusting
conditions, leave and report
to animal control
Avoid pet stores-many
receive their animals from
puppy mills
Ask to see papers-ideally you
want a dog registered
through AKC or UKC. This
way you can see their family
tree. A female dog goes into
heat twice a year, but should
not be bred each time;
therefore, if you see a five
year old female who has had
eight or nine litters, this may
indicate a puppy mill

WITH GRATITUDE
IF INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ONE OF THE DESERVING DOGS OF CR 7250, PLEASE FILL
OUT AN APPLICATION ONLINE AT WWW.SAVINGGRACEPITBULLRESCUE.ORG.
Thanks to Stephanie
Spurrier, the Pointers have
been completely vetted and
are ready to find their loving
home. We have had them
since Thanksgiving and they
are finally starting to look
and feel better. They are all
heartworm and tick disease
negative. The girls
bloodwork was also normal.
Mac, being a senior dog,
had blood work done to
check out his kidney and
liver function and everything
looks great. His scar on his
back leg is a result of an old
cruciate ligament repair.
Please consider taking one
of these special dogs into
your home. If you would like
to meet them, please
contact us to set-up an
appointment!

BEYOND THE MYTH DOCUMENTARY
associated with the breed and asks the question, “What exactly is a Pit Bull?” Instead of focusing on and punishing owners who are irresponsible and criminals who use their dogs for illegal purposes, legislatures choose to place their focus on the dogs, making them into scapegoats. Many opponents believe BSL is
the equivalent of racial profiling and banning a breed is, quite possibly, unconstitutional. Beyond the Myth challenges the idea that Pit Bulls are inherently vicious and goes one-on-one with people on both sides of this controversial issue.

Beyond the Myth is a film about Pit Bulls and those who love and defend the breed. It explores the contributing factors behind the public’s generalized fear of Pit Bulls and examines the conflict existing between advocates and opponents of Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). It also investigates the myths

We are a trio of friends that have bonded together through our love for dogs. Within our group, we have a groomer/boarding kennel owner, a vet tech and a pharmacist with a love for animals. We have multiple conforma-
tion and obedience titles between us, which gives us a great insight in to the soundness of temperament and structure in the dogs we rescue. We
live in a city that has a huge over population issue in dogs, and a lack of city budget to help remedy the situation. Our local shelter does the best they can, but are in constant need of outside help to get the huge number of
dogs, especially Pit Bulls, that come through their doors get placed. We are a rescue contact for our city shelter and do the best we can to help these
deserving dogs get homes. We have no outside funding, so we are only able to take on a few dogs at a time due to budget restraints. We want the dogs
we rescue to end up in forever homes; therefore, we are particular about where these dogs go.

She says she is doing very well.
She goes on long walks through

required as she has been spayed,
heartworm tested,
vaccinated, and micro chipped.

years old. She was found
running loose by one our

be a wonderful companion
animal to any potential adopter,

her safety. She is extremely
intelligent and loyal. She is able
to sit on signal command and is
