On May 19th our annual Installation
Dinner took place at Serafino's
Restaurant in Wallingford. Joanne
Dragunoff and Leslie White did a
wonderful job planning this event
and acquiring great raffle prizes. We
were honored to have Barbara
Liberman, incoming Co-President
Marcie Steinberg's mother, run our Installation ceremony. Barbara has
been an active Hadassah member for 37 years and has held various
Wepawaug ,CT Valley West Rock Chapter positions including President.
She has also been involved regionally and served as a Chapter Advisor.
Barbara conducted a special Centennial installation ceremony which
showcased each member of the board. The ceremony emphasized the
empowerment and commitment to Hadassah demonstrated by each of
these dynamic women. The consistent theme was to remember: we are
Hadassah - from one to infinity - we will lead the way. Current President Sarah Moskowitz was reinstalled and joined by her new Co-President
Marcie Steinberg. All of our outgoing board members were honored as we
welcomed many new board members to our 2011-2012 board.
After the installation ceremony, two members of our chapter were
recognized for their impressive efforts. Alyssa Budkofsky was given the
2011 Leadership Award for her outstanding effort and skills that exemplify
the mission of Hadassah. Bonnie Donato was presented the Centennial
Award for inspiring the
women of Hadassah to fulfill
our mission, for instilling
Hadassah values of service,
community and
commitment to the Jewish
people and exemplary
leadership. Mazel Tov to
our recipients, may you go
from strength to strength.

Presidents’ Message
Sarah Moskowitz and Marcie Steinberg reporting for duty as your co-
presidents. We welcome you to a year filled with revitalizing and
amazing programs. Last year our chapter accomplished so much and
we want to share with you the recognition we received in the spring.
We were presented with five awards in June representing the
spectrum of talent and enthusiasm that comprises our chapter. The awards were: Best Bulletin, Best Environmental
Program "Sukkot at the Orchard", Membership Outreach- Annual Dinner, Most Innovative Fund Raising Program
"Cheshire Night: Bobcat Boys", and Sarah's yearlong successful initiative for tower fundraising "Brick Power for the
Tower".
Who is Marcie Steinberg? Her family is a five generation Hadassah family which includes her Great Grandmother Sadie,
her Grandmother Nanabelle, Mother Barbara, Marcie (made a life member at her Bat Mitzvah by Barbara), and her
daughter Amanda. Marcie feels strongly that our chapter is filled with the most vibrant, enthusiastic, creative and
compassionate women she has ever worked with. She is thrilled to have joined Sarah in this wonderful position since she
has been such an inspirational leader and role model.
What a year our dynamic board has planned for you! We kicked off the year with a great fundraiser which was a
Tupperware party. Torrential rain couldn't stop our big turnout. We look forward to welcoming our new and prospective
members to a cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres on September 13th at the home of Sarah Moskowitz; 231 Farm Meadow
Lane. Our Fundraising Team and their committee has been excitedly preparing for our 4th Annual Rosh Hashanah apple
picking program at Drazen Orchard on Sunday, September 18th.
We are thrilled to see so many new members. Some as a result of Hadassah’s Centennial once in a lifetime celebration;
$100. Lifetime Enrollment! You can still take advantage of this amazing offer until December 31, when the price will
return to $360. And a special welcome goes out to our new transfers from Waterbury. Bruchim Haba’im to all!
As you read through this newsletter you will discover the diversity we have in our programs and activities. Mark your
calendars, call your friends and COME! Hadassah makes our world a better place to live in, yet it must begin at home:
Think globally and act locally by becoming an active Hadassah member.
Shana Tova! May you be inscribed in the book of life for a happy and healthy year.

Continuously Caring—
Cheshire Chapter Outreach Program
This year we hope to continue our project of providing food to
the Jewish Food Pantry in New Haven. There are over 100
families who use the food pantry each month.
We would like to ask each Hadassah member to bring
at least one item to each meeting or event so that we can
support the food pantry throughout the year.
Some of the most frequently requested Kosher items include:
borscht, gefilte fish, salmon, sardines, mushrooms, olives, peas,
oil, any types of canned meats/fish, condiments, soups or soup
mixes, juices, and baking products.
In addition to food, donations of diapers / pull-ups in size 4T
and larger also needed.

Tupperware Fundraiser :
Successful and Fun!
On Tuesday, August 9th, Cheshire Hadassah had
a terrific Tupperware Fundraiser. A special
thank you to our very own Lucy Kampf for
being our fabulous Tupperware Consultant and
to our Fundraising VP, Bonnie Donato for
hosting the event. Even though it was non-stop
rain we had a fantastic turnout of 20
members. While we all learned more about
Tupperware's new collection, our discussions
also focused on the fantastic events planned
for our chapter this year. Best news of
all, Hadassah received 25% to 40% of all
sales! At last estimate, we had raised over $350
with this fundraiser.
