2. PRESENT EDUCATION SYSTEM IS ‘IRRELEVANT’ FOR CONCEPTUAL AGE
i. There is no focus on developing mindsets of imagination and creativity, which is the foundation for future
innovations at universities and organizations.
ii. Students are judged on memorizing skills and not on the ability to generate new ideas which fuels future
growth of organizations.
iii. Students have to follow standard syllabus which does not encourage diversity, creative and different
thinking.
iv. Creativity is mainly confined to arts and there is no focus on exploration, discovery, experimentation,
collaboration and developing inquisitiveness of children for developing innovation.
v. The traditional and orthodox fragmented education system based on industrial age grading system is
obsolete for conceptual age. Innovation requires trans-disciplinary blending of Arts, Science and

4. HOW SCHOOLS ARE DEMOLISHING PASSION, CREATIVITY & EXCELLENCE

Standardization is the enemy of Innovation. Presently only the students with memorizing skills advance to next
levels and students with cognitive aptitude of generating new ideas are given low grades and left behind. In
Finland no student can be graded as ‘Dull’ or ‘Poor’. We all know how Thomas Edison, the greatest scientist of
the world who illuminated the world was removed from the school and called mentally unfit to attend the
schools. Another great scientist Albert Einstein was called poor in mathematics. Each student has a Genius that
resides in his passion and grading everyone from a single lens of memorizing ability is destroying their passion,
creativity and natural excellence. The ideas of ever evolving generation are more powerful than students at
universities and corporates, because their minds have already been conditioned with education system of 20th
century, which is disrupted by technologies. We will not be surprised to find more number of patents at schools
than the universities in the near future if there is a culture of imagination, creativity and innovation at
universities.

It is extremely important to tap the new ideas of this young minds and surface them to light for resolving the
toughest challenges of the world or else we will be responsible for not only destroying their creativity but our
