The weather greeted us with temperatures in the low90’s and high humidity with sunny skies onWednesday.
50 MACS-8ers attended and spent the four daysshopping (the girls) the Tangers Outlet Mall which was off exit 104 on 95 north! Attractions were the
lighthouse on Tybee Island, the Mighty 8th Air Force Museumwhere several groups visited during the week and a big hit wasthe Trolley Bus Tour of Savannah where a large group onThursday were picked up at the hotel by the tour bus driver whostated that the tour would be an hour and a half aroundSavannah and then everyone could hop on and off atdestinations in the city where they wanted to go. They werepicked up at 9:30 and were to leave Savannah at 4:30 to be drivento the hotel. All had a wonderful time even though it was veryhot and humid.
Every evening we all got together and with Sig leading the way most of us went to the same restaurantsfor dinner, Los Bravos, a Mexican restaurant whose foodwas excellent, Terra Mia, an Italian restaurant/pizzeria anda southern cooking eatery called Spanky’s. Some of us alsowent to the Sweet Tea Grille in Fort Wentworth for lunch.Everyone enjoyed the food and being together.
The Cottonwood Suites was a large complex with all theconveniences, an outdoor pool, fitness center although Sigsaid it wasn’t as good as his at home, many conferencerooms one of which we utilized as a hospitality roomduring the week with an outdoor patio with chairs for thesmokers, and the staff was very affable, helpful andcourteous. The hotel offered an ample continentalbreakfast every morning and had a good sized seating area.
The Saturday night meeting was emceed by Tom Redus. Beginning by thanking Sig, Janet, Larry andRose for hosting a great reunion. Tom read the Memorial List names for our recently deceased MACS-8buddies. Kent Miller made an announcement for everyone to visit our online “macs-8.com” blogsite.Get well cards were signed to be sent to Bob Stare and Sharon Walker who have serious healthproblems. The raffle drawings offered many unique gifts that were brought by attendees: the MACS-8
