Savannah, Georgia 2018 The 25th MACS-8 Reunion took place from September 26 th thru the 30 th in Savannah, Georgia at the Cottonwood Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Pooler, Georgia. Sig and Janet Stenmark and Larry and Rose Benoit were our hosts to this city in Chatham County. The weather greeted us with temperatures in the low 90’s and high humidity with sunny skies on Wednesday. 50 MACS-8ers attended and spent the four days shopping (the girls) the Tangers Outlet Mall which was off exit 104 on 95 north! Attractions were the lighthouse on Tybee Island, the Mighty 8 th Air Force Museum where several groups visited during the week and a big hit was the Trolley Bus Tour of Savannah where a large group on Thursday were picked up at the hotel by the tour bus driver who stated that the tour would be an hour and a half around Savannah and then everyone could hop on and off at destinations in the city where they wanted to go. They were picked up at 9:30 and were to leave Savannah at 4:30 to be driven to the hotel. All had a wonderful time even though it was very hot and humid. Every evening we all got together and with Sig leading the way most of us went to the same restaurants for dinner, Los Bravos, a Mexican restaurant whose food was excellent, Terra Mia, an Italian restaurant/pizzeria and a southern cooking eatery called Spanky’s. Some of us also went to the Sweet Tea Grille in Fort Wentworth for lunch. Everyone enjoyed the food and being together. The Cottonwood Suites was a large complex with all the conveniences, an outdoor pool, fitness center although Sig said it wasn’t as good as his at home, many conference rooms one of which we utilized as a hospitality room during the week with an outdoor patio with chairs for the smokers, and the staff was very affable, helpful and courteous. The hotel offered an ample continental breakfast every morning and had a good sized seating area. The Saturday night meeting was emceed by Tom Redus. Beginning by thanking Sig, Janet, Larry and Rose for hosting a great reunion. Tom read the Memorial List names for our recently deceased MACS-8 buddies. Kent Miller made an announcement for everyone to visit our online “macs-8.com” blogsite. Get well cards were signed to be sent to Bob Stare and Sharon Walker who have serious health problems. The raffle drawings offered many unique gifts that were brought by attendees: the MACS-8
