Friday, July 26, 2019 . That Day Zechariah 13-14 The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name. Zechariah 14:9 I read Zechariah fourteen and I rest in the power and promise of verse nine. I pause and consider what it truly means that the LORD will be king over the whole earth. This is my Jesus. He is the King. He is the LORD spoken of here. This is the messianic reign of Christ that has been awaited. The prophets foretell of this day—the day when all nations come and worship the one true God in His Holy City. Jerusalem will be raised up. The topography of Israel will change. The hills surrounding the city will be leveled and the city will be raised (see Isaiah 2:2). People will flow in and out of the city worshiping the LORD. There will be peace. I consider all the other gods that are currently worshiped in the world. I consider all the gods that I worship myself. I cannot even fully realize all the ways that worship of false gods has kept me from worshiping the one true Lord and King. But in that day, no other gods will be worshiped! Freedom! Joy! God’s chosen people given over to adoration of the King. In His first appearing, Jesus brought spiritual deliverance. When He returns, He will secure physical deliverance as well. Oh how I long for this day! I must remind others that Jesus is coming again. I must work very hard not to be content living in this world that calls me to worship other gods. I must look for the day when my Jesus is on His throne and all the world rejoices! Dear God, I long for that day—that day when Jesus comes and reigns over the whole world. Your promise is sure and I rest confidently knowing that what you have said you will do will happen quickly, in its time. While I wait, help me to be diligent for You. Remind me that I do not have to wait to serve You only. Remove my desire for false gods and, please, reveal to me what they are. Amen. Saturday, July 27, 2019 July 22 - 27, 2019

That Day Zechariah 13-14 The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name. Zechariah 14:9

I read Zechariah fourteen and I rest in the power and promise of verse nine.

Amen.

This scene captures a powerful glimpse into the future! The crown represents the crown of the Messiah. Never before has the priest been crowned as king. Never before has a king been given the role of the priest. When Uzziah tried, he was judged severely (2 Chronicles 26:16-21). But here, Zechariah takes the silver and gold that has been sent from Babylon to build the temple to make a crown for the priest. He calls everyone to a coronation ceremony. Joshua represents the Branch, which is, of course, Jesus, the Messiah, in His future millennial reign. God will join priest and king together in Messiah and He will sit on the throne of David forever, fulfilling the promise of God. The crown is taken from Joshua and put away as a reminder of the future that is certain to come. Joshua is not the priest who will be king. He only represents the One who will be. The future temple that will be built for the Messiah’s reign on earth will be built by people who come from far away to help build it. This is the temple from which Jesus will rule the great time of peace. O how I long for this day. Even so Lord Jesus, quickly come.

Dear God, How I love that You give a glimpse into Your future plan. Thank You for Jesus! He is my Savior, my King, my Priest, and my Advocate. I look forward to the great day when He reigns with absolute power and might and all the nations bow before my amazing King. May I be submitted to Him in every aspect of my life today as I wait for that future moment when I bow before Him. Amen.

I Will Zechariah 7-8 This is what the LORD Almighty says: “I will save my people from the countries of the east and the west. I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God.” Zechariah 8:7-8 The verses today are most exciting because this is exactly what the LORD is doing right now. Right now, in our day, the LORD is saving His people from all the nations. They have been dispersed because they rejected the Messiah, but God has a plan for them. That plan is to call them back to live in Jerusalem. He has spoken this message repeatedly through the prophets. They had chosen not to be His people and so God had abandoned them for a time. But He is now calling them back to live in Jerusalem and many are turning their hearts to Him. This is a movement of God and it is exciting to watch. How I pray that the Church will see what God is doing. Never before in the history of man has there been this type of return to the Promised Land by the Israelites. It is clear that God’s hand has preserved a remnant that He is calling back. It is true that many are coming without understanding that Jesus is Messiah, but many are coming and discovering Him there! May God’s plan continue to unfold in this generation. He is bringing His children home. He will be recognized as their God and He will once again recognize them as His people. May Messianic Jewish communities continue to grow and flourish. May there be unity between the Jew and the Christian. Pray for the peace of Israel. O LORD, how exciting to be alive when You are bringing Your people from the east and the west back to live in Jerusalem. I know that there are many who are standing in opposition to this today. I am so grateful that You are sovereign and that even as men try and determine who has a right to Jerusalem, You make it crystal clear that it belongs to You and that You will give it to whomever You will. Amen.

Thursday, Ju ly 25 , 2019 Rejoice Zechariah 9-10 Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. Zechariah 9:9 The king is coming. Zechariah tells of the day that the king will come into Jerusalem. While the first eight verses of Zechariah 9 describe the conquest of Alexander the Great, verse nine describes the coming Messiah—Jesus. It has become clear through the gospel accounts that this coming of the Messiah happened when Jesus entered Jerusalem to the cries of the crowd and the songs of the children (Matthew 21, Mark 11, Luke 19, John 12). Alexander rode in battle on a great horse, in might and power and pride. Jesus came on a donkey as royalty. He came humbly and filled with grace and mercy. Alexander led an army. Jesus led a group of common people—at His first appearing. There is a large gap between Zechariah 9:9 and 9:10. That gap is what is referred to as the Church age. It is the age of the Gentiles, where our role is to go and make Christ known. Through that, God will stir in His people a desire for Him (Romans 11:11). Then He will come in great power. He will do battle and win decisively. These events are portrayed beginning in verse 10. I need to see that Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah and that He has made Himself known to me and has included the Gentiles in His plan to redeem His people. I love that I serve an all-powerful King, whose power is displayed in His salvation, gentleness, and righteousness. O Jesus, How I love You, my King. You are all powerful and I know that You are Sovereign over all things. And yet, You are a humble King who allows me to bask in Your gentleness and goodness. This moves me to know that I can be most like You when I allow humility to overtake me as well. Protect me from myself, my mighty King. I worship You! Amen.
