Let me tell you a story…

I want to start by telling you a short story, and as I tell it, I want you to

imagine that this story is about you.

It’s not a happy story, but it’s a real one. It’s happened to people in the

past, and it still happens today.

As I said before, this isn’t a happy story.

- So how would you feel if this had really happened to you?

What if instead, it had happened to someone else?

- How would you feel if you saw this happen?

- What would you want to do?

Our Story

These people make helping others their job. Now these aren’t easy jobs.

• So what makes people want to help others?

Who can help:

• At home?

• At school?

• If there is a problem for a whole town, like in the story?

But usually, it’s somewhere else in the world. This might be because there are not enough people trained to help, if there has been a natural disaster, like an Earthquake or flood. Or it can be because whole regions or countries need to be helped or protected, because of conflict.
