Among SATO’s wide range of printers, we must observe some factors to respond to the need of our customer with the appropriate printer:

• Production levels and media (type, size, material, speed, definition, production required, etc.)

• Environment (space available, installation conditions, etc.)• Options and System Operation (system, options, connection, memory, etc. )• Budget and Conditions (price, contract, agreements, services, etc.)

In this presentation, we will be dealing with two categories, Specialty Printers and Printer Engines:

The printers (in DT or TT) are designed specifically for integration with automatic print & apply systems. Their performance is reliable over extended periods of time and a high volume of printing. Print engines are suitable for factory lines, logistic centers and often available through (OEM) manufacturers of print & apply systems.

To be able to respond to the necessities of our users and offer the right printer of our lineup, we need to understand and clear out their different features. We will observe these two categories in the present session.

• Using precise measurement with ±0.2 mm tolerance is required. We need to consider print prohibited area of 0.5 mm on all sides of the label. The use of S rank labels is recommended to obtain this tolerance:

- A rank label: The production process involves human inspection, image inspection (if correction is needed) and finally shipping.

- S rank label: The production process involves an extra image inspection, which make them more reliable but also more expensive.

• Perforation is not permitted because it causes sensor level variation.• 3 rollers (Platen Roller, Dispense Roller, and Feed Roller) should be

changed at the same time to keep the print accuracy.• It should be operated in room temperature environment.

ESPrint Engines

Print Engines are fit for a high volume of printing over a long period of time, which makes them perfect for integration into automatic print and apply systems. They are generally installed in factory lines with conveyor belts that carry along a large amount of products. They are also easy to integrate into logistic centers, where a large scale of items need to be labeled.

Their adaptability to diverse production and transportation lines makes them an habitual option for OEM manufacturers of labeling systems.

Print Engines offer many possibilities of label application:

Page 7: SATO Printer Overview Specialty printers and Print Engines

SATO lineup of printers comprises a wide range of categories and models. In this session, we have dealt with Specialty Printers and Print Engines. These two categories serve different purposes and respond to specific needs of the user.

Specialty Print Engines

Specialty printers cover the needs of specific markets that require value-added media. HR2, with its high precision printing, is frequently needed for name-plate labels. However, the Specialty Printers offer a wide range of possibilities still to be seen. Let’s find new business opportunities!

These Print Engines are often used to create print & apply label systems by (OEM) manufacturers. They can perform high volume printing over a large period of time, which make them perfect partners for factory lines, logistic centers, etc. We can find many chances to create a smooth and efficient automation of labeling!
