When to take SAT Tests
SAT Reasoning - end of your junior year and/or fall of your senior year.
SAT Subject – take, if you plan to attend a University of California.
You can’t take SAT Subject Tests on the same day that you take the SAT Reasoning.
SAT or ACT ???
SAT Reasoning has three sections—Reading, Math, and Essay.
ACT has five sections-- English, Math, Reading, Science, and an optional Writing test.
Either choice, plan to spend about 5 hours on a Saturday morning to take the tests.

Take ACT at the end of junior year and/or beginning of senior year.

Register for the ACT at www.actstudent.org
You will need a copy of your transcript when you are registering so you can fill in all of the classes and grades you have completed during high school.
Choose which colleges to receive your score reports when you register.
Fee Waivers
Fee waivers are available
for ACT and for SAT if you are on Free & Reduced Lunch Program at DHSHS.
• You will also need your counselor’s authorization.
• If you register with a Fee Waiver, and do not show up to take the test, you will be expected to repay $47 for the waiver.
College Placement Exams
When registering for the SAT or ACT, be sure you have your test scores sent to 4-year colleges where you apply for admission

Career colleges have their own placement tests
