How will the comfort in my property improve?

Any moving part on your sliding sash causes a 3mm gap atthe perimeter which in comfort terms is the equivalent to a15cm diameter hole. This hole is per window not per room –very draughty. But with Sash Window Conservation’s uniquedraught proofing system the gaps between the moving partsof the window are filled. This allows you to keep your originalwindows and enjoy a previously unobtainable level ofperformance and comfort.

Will this reduce noise?

Sound takes the easiest route which is the gap between themoving components of the window. As the air gaps have beenvirtually eliminated the noise penetration will be reduced.

BS8233 states that a gap of 1% would double the soundingress of the total area of the window. Our brush sealdraughtproofing system fills these gaps that had previouslyconstituted 1% plus of the total area. This reduces the noiselevel by 10db equal to 50%. Double glazing does not decreasenoise level and can in some cases increase it.

These incorporate no less than two brush pile draughtproofing strips which enable the sashes to run true and sealthe room from the outside. Further seals at the mid and toprails complete the draught protection of the window.

The result is the previously undreamed of. Draught-sealedsash windows with smooth running, quiet, efficient operation.The six-inch hole is eliminated, with room air change reducedby 80 per cent to a very acceptable 0.7 times per hour. Thereare no more rattles because the windows are buffered bybrush pile strips. Noise, down by up to 50 per cent, grime andpollution are kept firmly where they belong—on the outside.

When Sash Window Conservation Ltd has finished only closeinspection will show that the windows are not exactly asoriginally installed. They may look the same, but theirperformance has improved dramatically. And your comfort, ofcourse.
