Preserving our memories for the futureMiki Boyd - Savvy Scripts
A picture tells a thousand words, but it’s still only part of the story.Discuss the importance of preserving the memories of our lives, we may have the facts, but do we really know the why?
Miki Boyd , owner of Savvy Scripts - Heirloom Memoirs, Biographies and Autobiographies will provide her insights into why memories are so important to record.
Some hints to gather them and then maybe one day sooner than later you will hear the call to action because if you’ve ever had a grandparent or a parent pass away and thought, “I wish I had written down their stories before they passed”, then you know how important it is to capture those memories while they are still here with us.
If you’ve ever said, “I should write a book about my life!” and then laughed, because you knew you’d never get around to writing it... you’re not alone. So many people dream of putting their life down on paper, but then struggle to find the time – or where to start.
RSVP: By 3pm Wednesday 2 May to one of the following pleasePresident Jenny Banks 4942 1712Email: Leanne Simpson [email protected] on the evening Leanne 0428 181824

Sarina SLSC – Camp Success Sarina SLSC has just conducted its 6th Annual Club Youth Leadership and Development Camp. This year saw a group of 22 head up to Airlie Beach for the four day camp.
Activities included a trip Hamilton Island, Whitehaven Beach and snorkelling at Butterfly Bay. In previous the group has been to Gold Coast, Agnes Waters and Yeppoon. The camp cost is heavily subsidised by the club as a big thank you to our young members for the volunteer patrol hours they provide on the beach.
The club has a Saturday afternoon patrol that is solely provided for by our young members ranging in age from 13 to 20 years. 13 and 14 year old members hold a Surf Rescue Certificate with the 15 years and over holding a Bronze Medallion.
Some other awards held are inflatable rescue boat driver or crewman, advanced resuscitation certificate, beach management and more. Both the patrolling and camp provide a great outlet to enhance the kids sense of responsibility, confidence and leadership skills. The great thing about Surf Life Saving is that it teaches kids to not avoid activities with risk but to manage and work around the risk to enjoy the activity.
A lot of the kids started off in our junior nipper program which starts at age five and teaches them beach and surf skills in a fun way. It prepares them well if they want to go onto patrol in the yellow and red.
Do yourselves a favour and get involved in this great iconic family organisation.
Anyone looking to get their kids into Surf Life Saving as a nipper or to become a patrol member contact the club via > Facebook> Email - [email protected]> Call and leave a message on 49 566476.
