During the month of April, players will travel from non-profit to non-profit completing community service challenges, receiving spe-cial prices and fulfilling school community service require-ments. The game play is simple. Players are presented with a challenge to complete. For example, one challenge is to prepare soup in Shelters of Saratoga’s kitchen using ingre-dients donated by Esperanto. The soup is then offered to those at the shelter. After completing the challenge, play-ers will be provided with a QR code to scan using their smart phones or a code to input into a home or library com-puter. Once the code is inputted more challenges will be unlocked. Some challenges will also unlock special prizes. You can register for the Games at www.saratogawire.com/humanitarian-games

Following will be the age of Urban Renewal, the process of founding the City Center and the recent expansion. The City Center warmly extends an invitation to the public to take a look back at Saratoga Springs’ fascinating convention history and be enlightened as well. The presentation will be held at the City Center on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 7-8:30pm. The City Center enjoys “Bringing People Together” and this event will be one for the history books!

FOUR SARATOGA En POinTE ScULPTURES On DiSPLAY AT SARATOGA ciTY cEnTERSARATOGA SPRINGS - The Saratoga Springs City Center celebrates its 30th Anniversary year of “Bringing People Together,” by offering City Center visitors an opportunity to view a portion of the notable Saratoga En Pointe exhibit. This famed exhibit originally was comprised of 26, five foot tall, fiberglass ballet pointe shoe sculptures. Each shoe was commissioned in 2013 by a sponsor and designed by a lo-cal artist as a fundraiser for the National Museum of Dance. The City Center is pleased to welcome 4 of the 26 original ballet pointe shoes. They are now on display in the grand lobby- shown high above the lobby floor, as a dancing-in-the air exhibit. Visitors can view the shoes Monday through Friday from the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm through April 30, 2014. From the golden “All That Glitters” shoe to the magical mirrored “Believe In Your Dreams” shoe, this cur-rent exhibit is a testimony to dance and the treasure Sara-toga Springs has in the National Museum of Dance. The public is encouraged to plan a visit to view these stunning works of art and celebrate the City Center’s 30th Anniver-sary, as another opportunity for “Bringing People Together.”

SARATOGA SPRinGS ciTY cEnTER WELcOmES SARATOGA SURREnDER ScULPTURESARATOGA SPRINGS - The City Center’s 30th Anniversary celebration continues as it welcomes the “Saratoga Sur-render Sculpture,” a bronze bas-relief, on loan from The Friends of Saratoga Battlefield. This massive 4’ by 6’ bronze depicts the “turning point of America’s Revolutionary War,” when British General Burgoyne surrendered his sword to American General Gates. The event was a pivotal moment in America’s quest for independence. This impressive new work of art was created by Chas Fagan, a nationally known painter and sculptor. The subject is based on artist John Trumbull’s famous oil painting called “The Surrender of John Burgoyne,” which is prominently housed in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. The “Saratoga Surrender Sculpture” is now on display in the City Center’s main lobby for the pub-lic to appreciate Monday through Friday from the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through Monday, May 19, 2014. The festival features more than 25 performers and two days of all things Irish. The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program can provide monetary relief as well as extensive case management for veteran families that are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Temporary financial assistance is available for rental assistance, utilities fees, security deposit, moving costs, emergency supplies, child care and transportation. Case management and referral services include health care, daily living activities, financial planning, transporta-tion, income support and legal assistance. The goal of the SSVF program is to promote housing stability among very low income Veteran families who reside in or are transi-tioning to permanent housing in the following New York State counties; Washington, Warren, Saratoga, Schenect-ady, Montgomery, Fulton and Schoharie.
