On Tuesday March 26, we will be raising awareness for epilepsy as a part of Purple Day. Students

and Staff are invited to wear purple and donate a gold coin to raise awareness and funds for

epilepsy.

Purple Day was founded in 2008 by nine-year-old Cassidy Megan of Nova Scotia, Canada.

Motivated by her own struggles with epilepsy, Cassidy started Purple Day in an effort to get

people talking about the condition and let those impacted by seizures know that they are not

alone. Purple Day is named after the internationally recognised colour for epilepsy, lavender.

END OF SCHOOL DAY PROCEDURES

The safety of our students, staff, parents and carers is of major importance to our end of day procedures.

To ensure the safety of everyone and the efficient loading of our buses, we have brought the following

procedure into place:

Our front steel gate and roller door will be closed at approximately 2:25pm, allowing for us to promptly

load students into already garaged buses. Once these two buses have been loaded and departed, our third

bus will drive in to the bus shelter to be loaded.

At this time the steel gate will be opened for parents/guardians to walk along the cream path and in to the

school to collect your child/children from the school gymnasium. Once collected, parents/carers and

students can depart the school via the cream path and back through the steel gate. We ask that parents/

carers picking up their children at the end of the school day arrive at approximately 2.40pm to eliminate the

waiting time while this process is taking place.

We appreciate the support we have received from students, parents/guardians and visitors in relation to

trailling this new procedure, ensuring the safety of all is our first priority.

LEVIES School levy invoices have been issued to those parents not already approved for STAS (Student Assistance

Scheme). We would appreciate payment of levies, should you have difficulties with this please speak to

Michelle in the office and she can arrange a payment plan.

BUSES

The key points to this are:

Ensuring that your child is ready to board the bus at their collection time.

Ensuring that you are present at home/collection point at the designated drop off time allowing for some

slight variation in time day to day.

Escorting your child to and from the bus during collection and drop off.

Adhering to the approved days and drop off locations as specified on transport approval letters.

Contacting bus staff prior to 7.30am if your child is going to be away from school.

The bus phone numbers are:

Penguin/Ulverstone Bus — 0409 977 809

Wynyard/ Boat Harbour/Smithton Bus — 0400 089 724

Burnie/Somerset Bus — 0428 495 740

Currently all our buses are running at capacity on a very tight time schedule so we would appreciate it if families

can be mindful of all these points so that we can keep the buses running smoothly.
