    Reason and PrerequisitesUse of Oracle SPARC SuperCluster in SAP Environments

    SolutionOracle SPARC SuperCluster can be used in SAP environments when thefollowing conditions are met:

    o SAP products that are part of SAP NetWeaver or are based on SAPNetWeaver are supported on the Oracle SPARC SuperCluster as long asthey run on the SAP NetWeaver ABAP or J2EE engine stack. E.g. SAPMDM is currently not supported on the SPARC SuperCluster.

    o Supported Operating Systems on Database VM Servers (Oracle 11gR2 DBDomain):

    - Oracle Solaris 11. See note 1669684 for more details.

    o Minimum Oracle Database Release 11g Release 2 with Patchset 2(11.2.0.3)

    o Oracle Client Release 11.2.0.3

    o Supported SAP Bundle Patch for Oracle SPARC SuperCluster listed innote 1696570.

    - Minimum Oracle Exadata Database Bundle Patch 3 (BP3).

    o Supported Operating Systems on Application VM Servers (GeneralPurpose Domain):

    - Oracle Solaris 10 Update 10 (Support for Solaris 11 planned forQ4/2012)

    o Only OS Owner mode "Standard OS Authentication" is supported.

    Use IP over Infiniband for both the communication of the SAP applicationservers with the Central Services Instance and the connectivity between theOracle database and the SAP components. Oracle Net Services SDP will beavailable with Solaris 11 support on the application domain.

    For productive environments only Three-Tier SAP Installations aresupported. SAP instances may not run on the database VM Server of OracleSuperCluster and must run on a separate VM Server(LDOM).

    All Oracle Database Releases available on Solaris 10 are supported on theapplication domain for migration and test purposes.

    All SAP products available on Oracle Solaris SPARC with Oracle 11gR2 aresupported. Please check the SAP Product Availability Matrix(http://www.service.sap.com/PAM) for details regarding supported SAPproduct releases. In addition the PAM provides information about supportedoperating system releases and supported Unicode/non-Unicode configurations.
