SAP BI can pull data from external system, normally by using flat file.

Data in BI cannot be changed – display & analysis only.

SAP BI is a separate Database, where data are duplicated ;

Design considerations

SAP BI will be used as Reporting tools for Management reports

SAP BI pull data from ECC system

Data in BI cannot be changed – display & analysis only.

Data update into BI system will be one day behind R/3 data

Delta transaction data will be extracted everyday at night time

Enterprise Portal and Bex analyzer(Excel) will be used as standard Front-end tools to display Reports

Authorization in SAP BI

One of Authorization concept that we would like to propose to beadopted in this project is as below:

Each subject areas modules/streams in SAP BI is secured.

o For example: It will be possible to grant access to SD reports

without giving access to FI reports. Data in SAP is secured by Organization structure.

o Following is the BW authorization restriction being implemented:

Finance data is restricted by Company Code & Business Area

Logistic data is restricted by Plant Sales data is restricted by Sales Organization
