Product Description :

The patented wound dressing CHITOSKIN® consists of chitoskin and gelatin. It is a haemostyptic, very absorbent, absorbable and flexible gel that provides a moist healing environment at the surface of chronic and acute wounds. Tissue-like substances turn CHITOSKIN® into a biocompatible and painlessly removable wound dressing

INDICATIONS :

CHITOSKIN® - wound dressing is highly suitable for medical care of all the following wounds:

Acute wounds (i.e. burns, accidents, bullet wounds, donor sites and graft sites,..)

Chronic wounds (i.e. ulcer cruris (arterial/venous), decubitus ulcer, diabetic wounds, …)

Heavily exuding wounds

Secondary healing wounds

Infected wounds* ( In this case CHITOSKIN® can be applied, potentially additional treatment may be necessary.)

As tampon for deep wounds (decubitus ulcer, diabetic gangrene)

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Contraindications are not yet known.

CHITOSKIN® was not tested with pregnant and nursing woman.

CHITOSKIN® takes part in all phases of wound healing in bio-active manner and is therefore a universal wound dressing.

Instruction for use:

Prepare the wound site by cleansing it mechanically or any other suitable way (debridement) and rinse with

Ringer- or isotonic saline solution.

Select a dressing that will allow CHITOSKIN® to cover the wound , if necessary cut into shape of the wound.

In most cases, the application of a dry dressing is sufficient, moisten the dressing only in case of dry or nearly

dry wounds.

To maintain a moist wound milieu CHITOSKIN® should be covered with a foilor a polymer dressing.

CHITOSKIN® needs to be secured with a non adhesive bandage.

This treatment should be continued up to epitheliation.

Tip: Due to potential pain and sensitivity of the skin avoid sticking anything on the wound edges and surroundings. Apply cotton or very soft fleece widely spread over the CHITOSKIN® covered wound area and fix with a gauze bandage. If necessary apply a compress bandage.

Frequency of Change :

During the inflammation phase the dressing should be changed daily. When the wound is free of necroses and infections, CHITOSKIN® can be left in place for several days. As a general rule, the dressing should be replaced after 3 – 4 days.

Remaining wound dressing particles can easily be removed by rinsing with sterile Ringer-solution. Now, a new dressing can be applied as described above.

Single use Products:

CHITOSKIN® is a single use product. In case of damaged sterile package do not use!

Storage :

Keep dry and within the room temperature.

Product is sterilized using Gamma irradiation.

Content sterile unless peel package damged.
