    Education Condition in Nawabshah District

Once Nawabshah district was very popular for itsqualitative educationfacilities, so, peopleof other surroundingdistricts used tothrown towardsNawabshah in order toget education. Butsince last couple ofdecades, like otherparts of Sindh, education in Nawabshahdistrict has also been

systematicallydestroyed by throughrecruitment ofunqualified teachersand inefficienteducation managers

which all have played havoc with education of the district.

According to official figures that more than 750 primaryschools especially in the rural areas are still closedwhere more than 75 percentpeople of district areliving. There is already

shortage of girls schoolsin the rural areas, but ofclosing primary schools mostare of girls. The number ofdysfunctional schools ismore than that mentionedfigure. On other side, dueto ill planning, manyschools are very closelylocated and most of theseschools are not running, onthe other, where schoolswere badly required, havenot given attention because, one, the people of that areawere not so educated that they could have approached thehigher authorities and would have exerted such pressure toget opened schools in their areas, second, the politicalleadership has deliberately kept poor masses away fromeducation in order to hold their sway over them.

Education Condition in Three Union Councilsof Taluka Daur

Sangat Development Foundation (SDF) has been very closelyengaged with the rural

    community of this area.

SDF has recently conductedsurvey of 20 villages ofthree union council (UCs) i.eGupchani, Jamsahib and IsmailKhan, in order to collectdata regarding their socio-economic status and theirbasic means of livelihood. The SWDO team astonished thatthe most of primary schools(boys and Girls) eithercompletely closed, dysfunctional, or dearth ofrequired infrastructure.

Of closed primary schools, most were of girls primaryschools in these three UCs of taluka Daur districtNawabshah.

The SDF has also observedthat the rural people arevery strictly stuck withtheir taboos. They are veryreluctant to let allow theirbaby girls to get educationin co-education atmosphere. So, the future of girl babiesis at stake. Simultaneouslythe government claims, education for all isquestionable.

Meanwhile, educationdepartment has taken noinitiative neither opening of

long closed schools nor motivating the community members toallow their girls babies to join in the common schools. Itis therefore, future of new generation is at risk, especially of girls in the remote rural of districtNawabshah.

    COMMUNITY SPEAKS

Haji Ali Murad of villageEssa khan told to SWDO team that the both schools for(boys and girls) are closedsince a long time butdespite of regularcomplaints regarding longclosure of schools, toeducation authorities andelected representatives, no

body has given ear to ourcomplains for the openingof these both schools. So,now the future of our boysand girls are at risk. Weare now waiting God Help!

    PARENTS CONCERN

Muhammad Hashim and Mir Muhammad of village Ali Murad Shahani told the SWDO

that their girls school isalso closed since itsestablishment in 1993.

They complained thatdespite their incessantappeals and requests nonehas come forward for theirhelp in order to save thefuture of their girls.
