CALL UPON THE LORD The very first line of today’s first reading summons us to seek the Lord and to call upon God. This sentiment is echoed in the refrain for today’s responsorial psalm: “The Lord is near to all who call upon him” (Psalm 145:18a). Saint Paul is the embodiment of someone who constantly sought the Lord. In the excerpt we read today from his letter to the Philippi-ans, we find Saint Paul toward the end of his life, a life he describes as completely consonant with Christ. He writes, “For to me life is Christ” (Philippians 1:21). To find out what it means to live life complete-ly in accord with Christ we need look no further than today’s Gospel. There we find that God’s love and mercy are immeasurable for all those who seek and call upon the Lord. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Answers To Prayers Submitted by JoAnn Roy, Intercessory Prayer Ministry

1. We prayed for a cousin who had left the Church more than 40 years ago. He was in a terminal state of bone cancer. He had fought a good fight through many cancers but had not made peace with the Church. He had gotten angry with the Church over something around the time of his mother’s passing. He indicated that he prayed to God. We interceded for him several times in Mass and Prayer Group. We brought him a blessed prayer blanket. When we laid it on his legs he found peace for the first time in days. The next day he allowed Father Queen from Daytona Beach to minister to him the Sacrament of the Sick. He passed on the following Tuesday. We felt joy as we realized that God heard and answered our prayers.

2. Lane Campau’s Grandson was in a near fatal car accident. He was transported to Orange Park Trauma Center where doctors gave them little hope. The prayers went up in the church in daily Mass, the whole church interceded. He was given the Sacrament of the Sick, and the Divine Mercy was prayed. Many churches were involved in prayer. They are calling it a miracle (not officially). God gets all the glory for his recovery. Anthony is now in college again with his new wife and living a life for God. We are so glad for His mercy. It endures forever.

Please pick up a copy of a weekly message from Fr. Mooney, “Faith and Reason” (Fides et Ratio). Located on the bulletin table in the gathering space.

Use Your Envelopes or use E-Giving We encourage eve-ryone to use their envelopes. Or E-Giving. Think of your en-velopes or on-line giving as a gift to God. You take the time to thoughtfully, prayerfully choose your gift, wrap it and present it eagerly to our Lord. Many times families will ask for a letter stating that they are registered, participating members of San Sebastian in order to become a Godparent, Confirmation Sponsor or simply to enroll in Catholic Schools. Using your envelope or E-Giving makes our job easier and allows us to say “Yes! this family is registered and participating here at San Sebastian Catholic Church.”
