DESCRIPTION
San Miguel High School newsletter for summer 2011.
Citation preview
this summer. Tucson Electric
Power’s Valerie Collins com-
ments “We asked Lucas to
work during the summer be-
cause he is a very dependable,
capable intern and we would be
at a great disadvantage in
meeting our processing dead-
lines if we had to again perform
all the tasks he does for us. He
has worked for us for two years,
including last summer, and we
hope to have him with us until
he graduates!”
A big thank you to all of
the partners who have hired
students for the summer, and
we look forward to working
with you over the coming
year. Lucas Lopez, a junior at San
Miguel, will be continuing
with Tucson Electric Power
San Miguel is excited to an-
nounce the introduction of
new Honors and AP courses
for the 2011-2012 school
year, which will expand cur-
riculum options to engage
students at a higher level.
Honors courses will offer a
workload commensurate
with college courses to fur-
ther challenge students.
Brother Dan Fenton, who will
teach Honors Biology, re-
cently received
grants from both
the Catholic Foun-
dation and Freeport
McMoRan Copper
and Gold for new
equipment for his
classes in the com-
ing year.
Look for updates
from his class to
come!
Lucas Lopez, San Miguel junior,
will continue with Tucson Electric
Power.
You’re hired! Many San Miguel students are
spending their “vacation”
working with their Corporate
Internship partners to be-
come an even more integral
part of the team and earn
some cash for the summer.
More than 15 students have
continued on with the part-
ners who employ them
throughout the school year,
though the income earned
over the summer is not redi-
rected towards tuition.
Partners ranging from Rose-
mont Copper to University
Medical Center to Tucson
Electric Power have had their
respective interns return to
their offices for the summer
to complete entry level cor-
porate work.

Message from the President As our school year ended
and our students looked
forward to the summer, we
were glad to have so many
stories of success to share.
Graduation was the high-
light of the month of May,
with 45 of our seniors con-
tinuing on to begin their
college careers. We are so
proud of the work they’ve
done and look forward to
hearing about their college
accomplishments.
Our students now embark
on their summer adven-
tures. We have many
heading off to collegiate
programs and others con-
tinuing on to work with
their CIP partners. We are
truly blessed to have vast
community support for our
students.
San Miguel is now preparing
for a fresh school year with
new opportunities.
This is all made
possible by
your support
and involve-
ment with our
school, and for
that you have
our heartfelt gratitude.
Please always feel free to
visit or share our story
with your family and
friends.

YOUR SUPPORT CAN MAKE THE
DIFFERENCE AT SAN MIGUEL!
Students at San Miguel earn the majority of their tuition, 60%,
through the Corporate Internship Program. Families pay what
they can, typically around 10% of the cost of attending San Miguel.
The remaining 30% of the cost of tuition is supported through the
generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Your help can change the life of a student...forever.
