For the Geary BRT project, San Francisco wants to demolish the pedestrians bridges spanning over Geary Street in the Richmond and Japantown. As wide as Geary Street it is, crossing the wide street is not easy. With more than 6 lanes of traffic, it can also be deadly trying to cross it. The pedestrian bridge solves that problem. It has a ramp that lets pedestrians go over Geary Street without having to walk through the lanes of traffic.

But the Geary BRT project calls for the demolishment of the bridges to make the 38-Geary line faster and more efficient. Many residents oppose the idea. Demolishing the bridges would make Geary Street more dangerous as well as harder for the disabled and seniors.

Faster transit is one thing and pedestrian safety is another. Do residents in the area a favor, and don't remove the bridges for their safety!
