When the city incorporated in1928 it was considered the wealthiestcity per capita in the United States. Ofcourse the Stock Market crash of 1929,caused Ole to lose even his own home,which today is known as the Casa

OOn November 23rd, 1602, Spanishexplorer Sebastian Vizcaino discovered a smallisland off our coast. He named it SanClemente, because it was the feast day of the

Christian martyr Saint Clement. The town of San Clemente was named

after the island by founder Ole Hanson 323years later.

Hanson, the for-mer Mayor of Seattlehad already developedcommunities in LosAngeles and SantaBarbara. He was a manof vision, he chose thepicturesque coastalarea to build his dreamcity. The “SpanishVillage by the Sea” wasfounded in 1925. Olebelieved that wholecity should be like apark, full of people get-ting “a healthy joy out
