Well some of you may have heard I went down on my bike on December 2nd. I was go-
ing west on the 10 fwy in Rosemead in the carpool lane when a truck pulled into my
lane - I had no choice but to lay the bike down but I hit the back of the truck and I
don’t remember a thing after that. My bike was total loss but I will be fine. If it wasn’t
for the ¾ DOT helmet and the Harley-Davidson FXRG jacket the outcome would have
been different - and it wouldn’t have been in my favor. This has changed my whole out-
look on the gear you wear when riding. If anyone has learned a lesson from this it was
me. I am looking forward to a New Year with all of the HOG member and friends. I
hope you all got what you wanted for Christmas - all I want is a new bike.
Please let’s all ride, have fun, and be safe.

We want to take a moment to Thank Frank for all the
hard work and effort that he and his wife spent each
and every month to prepare our Monthly Newsletter.
He would have to drag stories out of all of us, and
then we would all wait till the last minute to send
them in, making his job harder.
Frank is a very busy person with all his activities and
we have been blessed to have him as part of our ex-
tended family. We hope you still
get a chance to ride with the
HOG group from time to time.
THANK YOU FRANK !!!!!

This story can fit 150-200
words.
One benefit of using your news-
letter as a promotional tool is
that you can reuse content
from other marketing materials,
such as press releases, market
studies, and reports.
While your main goal of distrib-
uting a newsletter might be to
sell your product or service, the
key to a successful newsletter
is making it useful to your read-
ers.
A great way to add useful con-
tent to your newsletter is to
develop and write your own
articles, or include a calendar
of upcoming events or a special
offer that promotes a new prod-
uct.
You can also research articles
or find “filler” articles by ac-
cessing the World Wide Web.
You can write about a variety of
topics but try to keep your arti-
cles short.
Much of the content you put in
your newsletter can also be
used for your Web site. Micro-
soft Publisher offers a simple
way to convert your newsletter
to a Web publication. So, when
you’re finished writing your
newsletter, convert it to a Web
site and post it.

We left Quaid HD at 9.30 AM, a little later than planned (to busy socializing) Those on the ride....Jack & Debbie Hayes ( good to see you guys back in the saddle ) Bob Baker, Micki & Sharon, Scott being chauffeured by Don & Margie Remai and my-self. We took mostly back roads to Biggs HD new location in San Marcos...arrived just in time for lunch...pulled pork sandwiches, Cole slaw and beans, all very tasty, lots of people going back for seconds and plenty of beverages to wash it all down. Toured the new store, visited with old and new friends and soon departed for home. Jack & Debbie opted to slab it home on the 15, the rest of us took the 5 North and the 74 East. Good weather, good friends, good ride.

ICE…. What does it mean?
ICE...What does it mean? In this case, not something you put in
your favorite cocktail, but instead something you put in your cell phone directory. It stands for "In Case of Emergency" Under the head-ing ICE list the names of people you want contacted in case of an emergency, ie husband, wife, friend, your primary care doctor etc. Most Police, Fire Departments, Paramedics know to look under that heading, should you become incapacitated, due to an accident or ill-ness.
Ride safe and hope you never have to use it.

5. Do not have a snack before going
to a party in an effort to control your
eating. The whole point of going to a
Holiday party is to eat other people's
food for free. Lots of it. Hello?
6. Under no circumstances should
you exercise between now and New
Year's. You can do that in January
when you have nothing else to do.
This is the time for long naps, which
you'll need after circling the buffet
table while carrying a 10-pound
plate of food and that vat of eggnog.
7. If you come across something
really good at a buffet table, like
frosted Christmas cookies in the
shape and size of Santa, position
yourself near them and don't budge.
Have as many as you can before
becoming the center of attention.
They're like a beautiful pair of shoes.
If you leave them behind, you're
never going to see them again.
8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin,
Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or
if you don't like mincemeat, have two
apples and one pumpkin. Always have
three. When else do you get to have
more than one dessert? Labor Day?
9. Did someone mention fruitcake?
Granted, it's loaded with the manda-
tory celebratory calories, but avoid it at
all cost. I mean, have some standards.
10. One final tip: If you don't feel terri-
ble when you leave the party or get up
from the table, you haven't been pay-
ing attention. Re-read tips; start over,
but hurry, January is just around the
corner. Remember this motto to live
by:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the
grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well pre-
served body, but rather to skid in side-
ways, chocolate in one hand and wine
in the other, body thoroughly used up,
totally worn out and screaming "WOO
HOO what a ride!"
Have a great holiday season!!

Paul
Domingue
HOLIDAY EATING TIPS
1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who
puts carrots on a holiday buffet table
knows nothing of the Holiday spirit. In
fact, if you see carrots, leave immedi-
ately. Go next door, where they're serv-
ing rum balls.
2. Drink as much eggnog as you can.
And quickly. It's rare... You cannot find
it any other time of year but now. So
drink up! Who cares that it has
10,000 calories in every sip? It's not
as if you're going to turn into an egg-
nog-alcoholic or something. It's a
treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have
two. It's later than you think. It's
Christmas!
3. If something comes with gravy, use
it. That's the whole point of gravy.
Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on.
Make a volcano out of your mashed
potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the vol-
cano. Repeat.
4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask
if they're made with skim milk or whole
milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's
like buying a sports car with an auto-

FREEDOM FLYER FOR JANUARY 2011
Most of the old time entertainers were made out of a lot sterner stuff than today's crop
of activists and whiners. The following is from an Army Aviator friend who takes an-
other trip down memory lane:
It was just before Thanksgiving '67 and we were ferrying dead and wounded from a large
GRF west of Pleiku, Vietnam. We had run out of body bags by noon, so the Hook (CH-47
CHINOOK) was pretty rough in the back. All of a sudden, we heard a 'take-charge' woman's
voice in the rear.
There was the singer and actress, Martha Raye, with a SF (Special Forces) beret and jungle
fatigues, with subdued markings, helping the wounded into the Chinook, and carrying the
dead aboard. 'Maggie' had been visiting her SF 'heroes' out 'west'.
We took off, short of fuel, and headed to the USAF hospital pad at Pleiku. As we all started
unloading our sad pax's, a 'Smart-Ass' USAF Captain said to Martha.... Ms Ray, with all these
dead and wounded to process, there would not be time for your show!
To all of our surprise, she pulled on her right collar and said.....Captain, see this eagle? I am a
full 'Bird' Colonel in the US Army Reserve, and on this is a 'Caduse' which means I am a
Nurse, with a surgical specialty....now, take me to your wounded. He said, yes ma'am....
Follow me.
Several times at the Army Field Hospital in Pleiku, she would 'cover' a surgical shift, giving a
nurse a well-deserved break.
Martha is the only woman buried in the SF (Special Forces) cemetery at Ft. Bragg
Military Liaison Officer Pappy Carroll SGT U.S.M.C.
Activities Director Dr. John Boyce
First of all, hope you and your families enjoyed the Holiday Season. As one of the newest
members, I was impressed by the warm reception extended by all of the board, and general mem-
bers at that very first meeting. Since then I have been able to become closer with everyone, and
have come to the conclusion that this is one of the best Chapters to be affiliated with.
Some folks believe that “Pappy” “railroaded” me into this position, and to that I say “Not
True”..Pappy poured his heart and soul into Activities this past year…. and very little time utiliz-
ing “spell check”. When he asked if I would “step up” for the next year, it was an easy decision
considering the support from the board and the Chapter itself that I would be receiving. I am not
worried about the “big shoes” to fill..but I am worried about the “big pants”. We all love him, and
appreciate everything he has, and will continue to do for the Chapter.
What’s new for the Chapter with Dr. John as Activities Director?
First off, we will be riding every weekend. The rides will alternate Saturday/Sunday which hope-
fully will allow more participation by the entire membership. Second change, we will have the
membership (that would be you) choose the rides for the year…how is that to happen??? We will
be having separate Activities Meetings. These meeting will be “open” to all members, and we as a
group will submit, review and vote on what rides are going to be Chapter Sponsored. This is your
Chapter and we need to ride our own rides.
Everyone will be receiving more information as this develops. So, if you want a specific
ride, overnighter or even if you want the Chapter to participate within another Chapter/Groups
ride..you either need to be at a meeting or get the information to me so that I can get it on the
“discussion” list. You can’t complain if you don’t participate..(new motto). Our goal is to “book” at
least two to three months in advance at each of these meetings.
Please feel free to discuss any riding opportunity with me or anyone else on the board,
and I promise that it will be brought out and given every attention it deserves…all suggestions are
welcome.
Finally, extend an invitation to your friends and neighbors to come out and join in on the
fantastic experience of riding with our Chapter…If you have an empty back seat…fill it with a
warm body. Let’s do our best to bring in some new folks and help continue the growth.
“Screw it, Let’s ride” Dr. John

Happy New Year to all of our Chapter members. I hope that you and your family had a wonder-
ful Christmas and New Year Holiday. Now that the big rain storms we had over the past
month have hopefully disappeared we can now dry out and get set for a new riding season.
What a great way to start out the new year with all of the new rides we have planned for the
chapter thanks to our new Activities Director John Boyce.
One of the biggest changes we did as your Board Officers was to change
the venue for our Transition Dinner and date. This was done purely as a financial decision in
order to save the Chapter over 50% in fees for your dinner and hall rental. The Elks club fi-
nally gave us a bottom figure for the evening of $5014.82. After reviewing all the facts it just
did not make any sense justifying that amount to be spent leaving the Chapters financial
health in jeopardy. The new venue will cost approximately $2600.00 for basically the same
menu and a little more personal touch in order to accommodate our Transition dinner. I will
give you a final cost break down for the Dinner at our next chapter meeting.
So please when you receive this newsletter and you haven’t made your reservation
and payment for the Transition Dinner do so as soon as possible. Contact me at the dealership. Also
don’t forget your chapter dues are also due now, remember with out your dues our chapter can not
function efficiently. I’m also seeking renewals
of our Business Card Ad members so come on in to renew them or see me at the next meeting. Cost of
your Business Ad is $ 50.00 and it’s a great way for you to reach out to the membership for their sup-
port of your business. Well I’m really looking forward to this New Year and with the
chapter memberships support we can make this one of the best HOG Chapters in the state. Hopefully
we will be able to recruit new members and also with the help of new LOH Officer Tamara Boyce we
can get more Ladies out there riding along side of us or with us. Stay tuned for more exciting news and
rides we have planned for the Chapter, until next meeting ride safe and remember to ride with
fun………………….Randy

Dear LOH sisters.... It has been a Great Year and I thank you for helping with the LOH, I sure
enjoyed being the acting LOH. And I know it is just going to get better this up coming year with our
New LOH lady, Tamra Boyce. She has lots of wonderful plans and I look forward to all of us having
fun and riding together.
The Transition Dinner is Saturday Night January 22nd........ and of course if you can help we are going
to Decorate for the party at 3:30 pm. That way once we decorate, we can clean up, right there and be
ready for the Dinner (and there is a lounge, so if you wish, you can have a drink and relax, after all that
hard work)....
We also need to get together to put together the Center Pieces, so since Tamra is planning the LOH
meeting for the month of Jan. we thought we might combine the two, the LOH meeting and the Decorat-
ing Committee (who can) and put the Center pieces together.
See ya at the new LOH meeting!!
And Let all have a Fun Riding New Year….
