enforcement & mental health community Helps law enforcement officers handle
incidents involving mentally ill people

Composition
Detail is comprised of six full time SAPD officers and one Sergeant
Two officers on daylight (10a-6p) Four officers on nights (8p-4a) Officers can be teamed with one mental
health assessor from the Center for Health Care Services, when feasible.

Give our COSA phone numbers out to Consumers and their families – Diverts calls for service to us
On scene referrals (Internal and External ) – Meet you at scene vs. direct you to facility /
resource – Collect / pass-on basic report data – We’ll do the application for ED & the report!
