September-December 2013 - Group design project for an underground dual carriageway tunnel on the A303 road at Stonehenge to alleviate traffic and reduce noise pollution. As group leader I was responsible for group management on top of the environmental implications and construction management of the project, with great use of Microsoft Project. The work involved overseeing the geotechnical, hydrological and structural aspects of the design, and was conveyed through assessed presentations and a final report. [mark - 61%]

September 2013 – May 2014 - Individual research project investigating how localised melting within an ice-bearing flow may have significant effect on the dynamic characteristics compared to a dry granular shear flow. Devastating high-velocity flows with a long run-out is becoming an area of increasing interest as climate change threatens more frequent occurrence of this type of natural hazard. The project involved a ’vibrated granular bed’ experiment using ice granules to investigate pattern

formation and the role of pre-melted surface moisture. [First Class Level - 72%]
