111. Be sure that all built-in protective devices are in

place. Restore any missing protective shields.

2. Make sure there are no cabinet openings throughwhich people- particularly children- might insert fingers or objects and contact dangerous voltages.

3. When re-installing chassis and assemblies, be sureto restore all protective devices, including controlknobs and compartment covers.

4. Design Alteration Warning:Never alter or add to the mechanical or electricaldesign of this equipment, such as auxiliary connectors, etc. Such alterations and modifications will void themanu-facturer’s warranty.

5. Components, parts, and wiring that appear to haveoverheated or are otherwise damaged should bereplaced with parts which meet the original specifications. Always determine the cause of damageor over-heating, and correct any potential hazards.

6. Observe the original lead dress, especially nearsharp edges, AC, and high voltage power supplies.Always inspect for pinched, out-of-place, or frayedwiring. Do not change the spacing between components and the printed circuit board.

7. Product Safety Notice:

Some electrical and mechanical parts have specialsafety-related characteristics which might not beobvious from visual inspection. These safety features and the protection they provide could belost if a replacement component differs from theoriginal. This holds true, even though the replacementmay be rated for higher voltage, wattage, etc.

Components critical for safety are indicated in theparts list with symbols . Use only replacementcomponents that have the same ratings, especiallyfor flame resistance and dielectric specifications. Areplacement part that does not have the same safetycharacteristics as the original may create shock, fire,or other safety hazards.

1. PrecautionsFollow these safety, ESD, and servicing precautions to prevent personal injury and equipment damage.

Precautions

1-2

1.2 ESD Precautions

Certain semiconductor devices can be easily damaged by static electricity. Such components arecommonly called “Electrostatically Sensitive (ES)Devices”, or ESDs. Examples of typical ESDs are: integrated circuits, some field effect transistors, andsemiconductor “chip” components. The techniques outlined below should be followed tohelp reduce the incidence of component damagecaused by static electricity.

CAUTION: Be sure no power is applied to thechassis or circuit, and observe all othersafety precautions.

1. Immediately before handling a semiconductor component or semiconductor-equipped assembly, drain off any electrostatic charge on your body bytouching a known earth ground. Alternatively, employ a commercially available wrist strap device, which should be removed for your personal safetyreasons prior to applying power to the unit undertest.

2. After removing an electrical assembly equipped withESDs, place the assembly on a conductive surface, such as aluminum or copper foil, or conductivefoam, to prevent electrostatic charge buildup in thevicinity of the assembly.

3. Use only a grounded tip soldering iron to solder ordesolder ESDs.

4. Use only an “anti-static” solder removal deviceSome solder removal devices not classified as “anti-static” can generate electrical charges sufficientto damage ESDs.

5. Do not use Freon-propelled chemicals. Whensprayed, these can generate electrical charges sufficient to damage ESDs.

6. Do not remove a replacement ESD from its protectivepackaging until immediately before installing it. Mostreplacement ESDs are packaged with all leadsshorted together by conductive foam, aluminum foil,or a comparable conductive material.

7. Immediately before removing the protective shortingmaterial from the leads of a replacement ESD, touchthe protective material to the chassis or circuitassembly into which the device will be installed.

8. Maintain continuous electrical contact between theESD and the assembly into which it will be installed, until completely plugged or soldered into the circuit.

9. Minimize bodily motions when handling unpackagedreplacement ESDs. Normal motions, such as thebrushing together of clothing fabric and lifting one’sfoot from a carpeted floor, can generate static electricity sufficient to damage an ESD.

Circuit Description- 3 -

2.3. System BUS Control

2.3.1. Chip Select ( nROM_CS,nSOLGO_CS,nPERI_CS )

ZR-4100 has 4 chip select pin . Each chip select can access to 4M Bytes- nROM_CS : Flash Memory Chip Select ( 4M * 8bits )

- nETCC_CS : TPH Controller ASIC Chip Select ( * 16bits )

- nPERI_CS : TFT LCD Controller ASIC Chip Select ( * 16bits )

2.3.2. /RD & /WR/RD & /WR SIGNAL is low active synchronizing internal MCLK ,These signals are connected to parallel flash memory , TPH controller ASIC , TFT controllerASIC and are used as strobe signal of reading or writing when chip select is active low .

2.3.3. System Data Bus (SBD0 ~ SBD7)8BIT data bus

2.3.4. Address Bus (SBA0 ~ SBA13,SBA14~SBA21)Address busSBA14~SBA21 are used as data bus (SBD8~SBD15) in case of 16bit access .

2.4. SDRAM Control

ZR-4100 includes DRAM controller which can control external DRAM .The SDRAM interface has an external data width of 8bits. It can connect directly to one SDRAMdevice(data width 8bits) or two SDRAM devices of the same type (data width 4bits) . Supported deviceshave 16,64,128,256 Mbits memory size with single data rate (SDR) protocal. This system uses a 32MBytes SDRAMInterfacing to SDRAM devices is critical to timing . Therefore the SDRAM interface does not use anyoverlays . Each IO has only one SDRAM related function defined in the JEDEC spec. To save pins thechip select outputs have been removed therefore the select input of attached SDRAM devices must bepulled down .

2.5. Engine Control

There are printer FlexRisc and scan FlexRisc in ZR-4100. Each FlexRisc has a function of motorcontrol with 2-channel encoder input . These encoders maintain the current motor position , themovement direction and the speed. But, this system do not use this function2 DC motors for Linefeeding and TPH rotating using function of FlexRisc.Line feed motor and Up/Down motor are controlled by TPH controller ASIC(ETCC).

6. USB Interface Circuit Description

This system uses USB host for direct printing from digital camera and USB Device 2.0 for PC printing .These function is embedded in ZR-4100 Main Controller ASIC.

6.1. USB Full Speed Host

- Poly Switch is used for implementing over-current protection for safety reasons.- USB uses pull-up or pull down resistors to determine when an attach or detach event has taken

place on the USB bus and the speed capacity of the attached peripheral. The USB host requires an external 15k Ohm pull-down resistor on DPLUS andDMINUS.When a USB target is connected to the host controller, the RPU in the Target will cause theDPLUS (or DMINUS for a low speed device) signal to go high and the ATTACH interrupt will beactivated.

Circuit Description- 15 -

Figure 6-1 Circuit diagram of USB Host6.2. USB High Speed Device

ZR-4100 has a register which enables a pull up , therfore don't need external pull up registers.

USB20USBCMD Register bit 0Writing a one to this bit will cause the device controller to enable a pull-up on D+ and initiate

an attach event. This control bit is not directly connected to the pull-up enable, as the pull-up

will become disabled upon transitioning into high-speed mode.

Software should use this bit to prevent an attach event before the device controller has been

properly initialized. Writing a 0 to this will cause a detach event.

10. Power Circuits10.1. Overview

Power structure of this system is showed in following figure. The adaptor of 24V is used as a main power supply of this system and several voltages aregenerated for each function from this power supply.TPH operating voltage and 5V are generated from 2-CH switching regulator. Motor operating voltageuses the adaptor voltage directly through the on/off switch. 2 types of 3.3V are generated from 5Vsource and 1.8V is generated from one of 3.3V sources . One is for ZR-4100 and the other is forETCC ASIC and memory card.
