Under the freezer hinge cover arethe electrical connections for thefront display panel. All electronicsand control circuits are in the rearcontrol compartment. The displaypanel is just data input and display.

Connections through the upperfreezer door hinge. There is also thermistor to monitorthe exterior temperature under thishinge cover. The thermistor is on avery short harness.

The units use a hot wall condenserin conjunction with a sub-condenser. The hot wall condenserloop is manufactured from steel. The Hot Pipe Post Condenser Loop(Yoder Loop) is constructed fromcopper tubing. There are twoevaporators. The capillary tubefeeds into the fresh food evaporatorand the outlet from the fresh foodevaporator supplies the freezerevaporator.

Offsets are included that will allowfor adjusting to the characteristics ofthe thermistors. Hold the FreezerTemp and Power Cool buttons fortwelve seconds. It is highlyrecommended that theseadjustments are avoided.

The Fridge Temp display showswhich mode the adjustment is beingmade to. There are four differentthermistors that can be adjusted.Freezer offset is mode "0". FreshFood offset is mode "1". Ice Makerthermistor offset is mode "4".CoolSelect zone is mode "20".Icemaker fill time can be adjustedwhen in mode "3". It is stronglysuggested that the icemaker fill timeshould not be adjusted. The Freezer Temp display indicatesthe amount of the offset based uponmemory tables. It is imperative thatthe reference tables be used whenmaking an offset adjustment. Thevalues displayed in the FreezerTemp display are not the actualoffset temperatures. In this example, the freezerthermistor is being offset by -6degrees.

    Defrost Function

    15

Since there are two evaporators inthe system, there are two evaporatordefrost heaters.Defrost is adaptive and willterminate based upon the evaporatorthermistor temperature readings. The system is designed to defrostthe fresh food section twice as oftenas the freezer section. Thiscompensates for the fact that thefresh food section is accessed morefrequently than the freezer section. The fresh food section can defrostindependent of the freezer section, but the freezer section will alwaysdefrost at the same time as the freshfood section. The fresh food sectionwill defrost once for every six toeight hours of compressor run timewhile the freezer section will defrostevery twelve to sixteen hours ofcompressor run time. When started from roomtemperature, the first defrost cyclewill begin after four hours ofcompressor run time. The defrost temperature ismonitored at the bottom right of thefreezer evaporator and at the top leftoutlet of the refrigerator evaporator.

    Forced Operation Function

    16

The forced operation check allows aforced check of the cooling system. Each mode will operate until thenext mode is selected or until thetest is cancelled. The forced modecannot be activated if the unit isdefrosting either of the evaporatorcoils. The compressor will run for 24hours and then begin cycling at -14degrees in the freezer and 34degrees in the fresh foodcompartment.Loss of power will also cancel thisfunction. There is no delay incompressor start so if there is highhead pressure, an overload conditioncan be encountered. The three individual tests are;Forced compressor pull-down,Refrigerator defrost check andrefrigerator and freezer defrostcheck. To enter the forced operation mode, depress the Power Freeze and theFridge Temp buttons for eightseconds.

Pressing the "Ice Type" or "ChildLock" buttons will cancel this modeof operation.During each test the timing of thebeeps will vary.

    Forced Operation Function

Condenser Fan Delay The condenser fan operation willchange depending on the ambienttemperature. Above 65 degreesFahrenheit, the condenser fan willbegin operation with thecompressor. Between 61 and 65degrees, the condenser fan energizesfive minutes after the compressorenergizes. Below 60 degrees, thecondenser fan will not operate. Thisfunction is used to promote good oildistribution within the compressor.

The fresh food and freezerthermistors can be adjusted byclipping out diodes on the mainboard. It is suggested that thisapproach not be used. Either replacethe thermistor that is out of range orreplace the main control boarddepending on the fault condition.

There is a low voltage transformerthat supplies 9VAC and 13VAC.The test switch will initiate a defrostcycle. The first press will initiate aforced pull-down. The second timeit is pressed, the fresh food sectiondefrosts independent of the freezersection. Pressing a third time willinitiate a combined fresh food andfreezer defrost. Pressing the testbutton again will cancel the forceddefrost.
