    Low battery indicator

    When the battery is low:

    a warning tone sounds,

    the low battery message displays, and

    the empty battery icon blinks.

    If the battery level becomes too low, thephone automatically turns off. Rechargeyour battery.

    Power on or off

    Keypad lock

    When you close the phone, the keypad lock

    feature locks the exposed keys so thatnothing will happen if the keys areaccidentally pressed.

    To unlock the keypad, press andpress .

    Remove the adapter from the phone.

    Switch on

    Do not turn onthe phone whenmobile phoneuse isprohibited.

    1. Open the phone.

    2. Press and hold [ ].

    3. If necessary, enter the

    Offline mode

    You can switch the phone to Offline mode, in

    which the phone functions requiring networkconnection are deactivated. This mode ishelpful when you want to use your phone ina place where you are not allowed to usemobile devices, such as in an airplane and ata hospital.

    To switch to Offline mode, press and select SettingsPhone settingsOffline modeOn.

    In Offline mode, you can use non-wirelessfunctions, such as games, calendar, camera,

    and music player.

    Use Bluetooth

    technology, enabling you to connect thephone wirelessly to other Bluetooth devicesand exchange data with them, talk hands-free, or control the phone remotely.

    Watch the phone display on a

    TVYou can view the display of your phone on aTV screen by connecting the phone and TVwith a TV out cable. This enables you toenjoy the photos, videos and music stored inthe phones memory with your family orfriends on a larger screen.

    To receive data via Bluetooth,your phones Bluetoothfeature must be active.

    1. When a device attemptsto access your phone,press to permitthe connection.

    2. If necessary, press to confirm thatyou are willing to receive.

    Use a memory card

    You can use an optional microSD memory

    card to increase your phones memorycapacity.

    1. With the TV switched on,connect your phone to theTV with a TV out cable, asshown.

    2. Switch the TV to ExternalInput mode.

    The display switches to TVOut mode and you can

    view the phones display

    on the TV screen.

    3. If necessary, set the videosystem for your TV in theTV-out settings menu.p. 88

    4. Access the application youwant and open files.

    Frequent erasing andwriting will shorten amemory cards lifespan.

    Do not remove a card fromthe phone or turn off thephone while data is beingaccessed or transferred.This could result in loss ofdata and/or damage to the

    AB, T9, Number, and Symbol modesYou can enter text in some features, such asMessages, Phonebook, or Calendar, using ABmode, T9 mode, Number mode, and Symbolmode.

    Changing the text input mode Press and hold [ ] to switch between T9

    mode ( ) and AB mode ( ).Depending on your country, you mayalso be able to access an input mode for

    your specific language. Press [ ] to change case or switch to

    Number mode ( ).

    Press and hold [ ] to switch to Symbolmode.

    Press the appropriate key until the character

    you want appears on the display.

    Press [C] to delete characters one byone. Press and hold [C] to clear thedisplay.

    Using T9 mode

    T9 is a predictive text input mode thatallows you to key in any character usingsingle keystrokes.

    Entering a word in T9 mode

    1. Press [2] to [9]to start entering a word.

    Press each key once for each letter.For example, press [4], [3], [5], [5],and [6] to enter HELLO in T9 mode.

    T9 predicts the word that you are typing,and it may change with each key thatyou press.

    2. Enter the whole word before editing ordeleting characters.

    3. When the word displays correctly, go tostep 4. Otherwise, press [0] to displayalternative word choices for the keys

    that you have pressed.

    For example, OFand MEuse [6] and [3].

    4. Press [ ] to insert a space and enter the

    next word.Other T9 mode operations

    Press [1] to enter periods or apostrophesautomatically.

    Press [ ] to insert a space.

    Press the Navigation keys to move thecursor.

    Press [C] to delete characters one byone. Press and hold [C] to clear thedisplay.

    1. Enter the word that you want to add.

    2. Press [0] to display alternative words foryour key presses. When there are nomore alternative words, Add appears onthe bottom line.

    Number mode enables you to enternumbers.

    Press the keys corresponding to the digits

    This network feature displays the cost of

    calls. This menu is available only ifsupported by your SIM card. Note that this isnot intended to be used for billing purposes.

    Lastcallcost: check the cost of yourlast call.

    Totalcost: check the total cost of all ofyour calls. If the total cost exceeds themaximum cost set in Setmax.cost,you must reset the counter before youcan make another call.

    Creating and sending an e-mail

    1. Select the Subject line.

    2. Enter the subject of your e-mail andpress [ ].

    Settings (Menu 5.5)

    Use this menu to set up various options forusing the messaging service.

    Text messages (Menu 5.5.1)

    You can configure SMS settings.

    Sending options: set up the options forsending SMS messages:

    Reply path: allow recipients to reply toyou through your SMS server.

    Delivery report: set the network toinform you when your messages havebeen delivered.

    Character support: select a characterencoding type. When you selectAutomatic, the phone switches the

    encoding type from GSM-Alphabet toUniCode if you enter a UniCodecharacter. Use of Unicode encoding willreduce the maximum number ofcharacters in a message to about half. Ifthis menu is not shown, your phone

    provides automatic character encodingby default.

    Bearer selection: select either GSM orGPRS preferred, depending on yournetwork.

    Receiving options: activate 3D vividview mode for displaying received SMSmessages on your phone. The phone willconvert message text to 3D vividgraphics and displays it in 3D view mode.This option is available only when the

    message consists of a single page.

    Selecting a day on the calendar

    When you enter the Calendar menu, thecalendar in Month view appears with todaysdate indicated by a grey box.

    Press [Left] or [Right] to move by day.

    Press [Up] or [Down] to move by week.

    Press [Volume] to move by month.

    Creating an item

    You can store appointments, anniversaries,and tasks on the calendar. More than oneitem per day can be stored.

    Entering a new appointment
