Low battery indicator
When the battery is low:
a warning tone sounds,
the low battery message displays, and
the empty battery icon blinks.
If the battery level becomes too low, thephone automatically turns off. Rechargeyour battery.

Keypad lock
When you close the phone, the keypad lock
feature locks the exposed keys so thatnothing will happen if the keys areaccidentally pressed.
To unlock the keypad, press andpress .
Remove the adapter from the phone.

Offline mode
You can switch the phone to Offline mode, in
which the phone functions requiring networkconnection are deactivated. This mode ishelpful when you want to use your phone ina place where you are not allowed to usemobile devices, such as in an airplane and ata hospital.
To switch to Offline mode, press and select SettingsPhone settingsOffline modeOn.
In Offline mode, you can use non-wirelessfunctions, such as games, calendar, camera,
and music player.

Watch the phone display on a
TVYou can view the display of your phone on aTV screen by connecting the phone and TVwith a TV out cable. This enables you toenjoy the photos, videos and music stored inthe phones memory with your family orfriends on a larger screen.

You can use an optional microSD memory
card to increase your phones memorycapacity.
1. With the TV switched on,connect your phone to theTV with a TV out cable, asshown.
2. Switch the TV to ExternalInput mode.
The display switches to TVOut mode and you can

on the TV screen.

AB, T9, Number, and Symbol modesYou can enter text in some features, such asMessages, Phonebook, or Calendar, using ABmode, T9 mode, Number mode, and Symbolmode.

Using T9 mode
T9 is a predictive text input mode thatallows you to key in any character usingsingle keystrokes.
Entering a word in T9 mode
1. Press [2] to [9]to start entering a word.
Press each key once for each letter.For example, press [4], [3], [5], [5],and [6] to enter HELLO in T9 mode.
T9 predicts the word that you are typing,and it may change with each key thatyou press.
2. Enter the whole word before editing ordeleting characters.
3. When the word displays correctly, go tostep 4. Otherwise, press [0] to displayalternative word choices for the keys
that you have pressed.
For example, OFand MEuse [6] and [3].
4. Press [ ] to insert a space and enter the
next word.Other T9 mode operations
Press [1] to enter periods or apostrophesautomatically.
Press [ ] to insert a space.
Press the Navigation keys to move thecursor.

Using the speakerphone feature
Use the speakerphone feature to talk andlisten with the phone a short distance away.
Press [ ] and then to activate the
speakerphone feature. Press [ ] again toswitch back to the earpiece.
Using In-call options
Press to access the following
options during a call: Speaker on/Normal: turn on the
speakerphone feature or switch back toNormal mode.
Switch to headset/Switch to phone:switch the call to a Bluetooth headset or
hands-free car kit or back to the phone.p. 87
Menu: access the phone's menufunctions.
Voice off/Voice on: switch off thephone's microphone so that the otherperson on the phone cannot hear you, orswitch it back on.
Mute keys/Send keys: switch the keytones off or on.
Send DTMF: send the DTMF (Dual tonemulti-frequency) tones as a group. TheDTMF tones are the tones used in phonesfor tone dialling, sounding when you
press the number keys. This option ishelpful for entering a password or anaccount number when you call anautomated system, like a bankingservice.
Phonebook: access the contact list.

Text messages (Menu 5.5.1)
You can configure SMS settings.
Sending options: set up the options forsending SMS messages:
Reply path: allow recipients to reply toyou through your SMS server.
Delivery report: set the network toinform you when your messages havebeen delivered.
Character support: select a characterencoding type. When you selectAutomatic, the phone switches the
encoding type from GSM-Alphabet toUniCode if you enter a UniCodecharacter. Use of Unicode encoding willreduce the maximum number ofcharacters in a message to about half. Ifthis menu is not shown, your phone
provides automatic character encodingby default.
Bearer selection: select either GSM orGPRS preferred, depending on yournetwork.
Receiving options: activate 3D vividview mode for displaying received SMSmessages on your phone. The phone willconvert message text to 3D vividgraphics and displays it in 3D view mode.This option is available only when the
message consists of a single page.

You can store appointments, anniversaries,and tasks on the calendar. More than oneitem per day can be stored.
