Automatic white balance is a feature that the camera uses to do color compensation. In many applications the color temperature can change as lighting conditions change. Samsung cameras offer white balance functions that can be tailored to provide superior color reproduction over a wide range of color temperature conditions.

Auto TrackingThe advanced auto tracking feature provides high-accuracy detection of moving objects in targeted areas by identifying the characteristics of the subject including color, shape and contrast using advanced algorithms. This feature automatically pans, tilts and optically zooms to identify a subject clearly. This allows the operator to easily identify and lock a subject on the screen at a push of a button.

Auto Digital FlipThe auto digital flip feature allows for a more convenient way to view objects that pass directly below the camera. As the camera pans in the vertical direction to follow the object, the digital flip feature will automatically flip the image 180° as the object passes beneath the camera, and continues to follow the subject without delay.

Back-up GUIThe easy-to-use GUI supports various back-up modes for each channel. Users can select a back-up device and start/end time and then the DVR automatically checks the capacity of the device.

2D/3D noise filter SSNRIIIManaging noise is the key to achieving great results in low light. The advanced 2D/3D noise filtering system allows good color in much lower lighting levels. Reducing noise in the picture also reduces the amount of storage space required to record the video on a DVR.

Back Light Compensation (BLC)Backlight compensation allows the camera to find the best picture condition and automatically adjust the light level so that users can identify the subject in the foreground when there is a bright light source in the background. BLC works by enhancing specific zones in the picture which usually contains the subject of interest. eXtended Dynamic Range (XDR) Under strongly backlit or high contrast scenes, cameras generally produce images which reproduce detail in the brighter area of the scene. Consequently, detail is often lost in the darker areas of the scene. Some Samsung cameras provide XDR technology to increase the level of visible detail in the dark areas, while maintaining image clarity and detail in the brighter portions of the image.

Motion Detection (MD)This is a function where the camera analyzes successive frames of video and can detect movement in the scene. Units that use MD utilize various types of thresholds that can be programmed by the user to prevent or reduce false alarms. Smart Codec - ROI (Regions of Interest)In the majority of scenes viewed by a surveillance camera only a portion of the image is of interest to the operator. With the continued increase in resolution, and therefore data sizes, there is an increased amount of “Wasted Data” created. Samsung’s use of smart codec technology in their network cameras allow them to be programmed to capture in greater detail the real ROI, such as moving objects, human faces, doors or windows. This smart codec feature produces lower data sizes while clearly highlighting the ROI.

Virtual Progressive Scan (VPS)Camera models featuring WDR generate images using Double Scan CCD technology. These cameras provide VPS (Virtual Progressive Scan) operation which can utilize either Interlace or Progressive scanning methods. This VPS is unique to Samsung and ensures that the edges of a moving object are clearly defined. Blurred edges resulting from delays in even/odd field image scanning are eliminated when VPS technology is used with a network product (IP camera or encoder). All DVRs offer a VPS feature which eliminates the problem of blurred edges on moving objects, when used with Samsung cameras with VPS feature included.

Interlace Transmission (Delayed edge) VPS Transmission (Clear edge)

WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology helps acquire detailed information from the dark areas of the image without saturation from the bright areas. The color of the images are much more detailed than when using traditional BLC functions because there is no limit of the number of zones used. WDR combines two fields into one image: a high shutter speed exposure in bright areas and a low shutter speed exposure in dark areas.
