Principle of operation (Fig.6)

Themediumflowsthroughthesingle-seatedglobevalveinthedirectionindicatedbythearrow.Thepositionoftheplugstemdetermines the cross-sectional area released between theseat(2)andtheplug(3).Inthepressure-balancedType3214Valves,theupstreampressureistransmittedthroughaholeintheplugstem(6)andactsontheoutsideofthebellows.Thedownstreampressureactsontheinsideofthebellows.Asaresult,theforcescreatedbythedifferentialpressurethatactontheplugareeliminated.The

plug is moved by changing the control signal actingon the actuator.Thevalve andactuator have a force-locking connection fornominalsizesuptoDN50andaform-fitconnectionfornominalsizesDN65andlarger.

TheTypes5857,5824and3374ElectricActuatorsaswellthetheType3274ElectrohydraulicActuatorcanbecontrolledeitherusingathree-steppingpointsignalor,intheversionwithpositioner,withcontinuoussignalsfrom0(4)to20mAorfrom0(2) to10V.Various optionalelectric accessories can bemountedontothecontrolvalve.
