Summary & Conclusions

Main conclusions drawn from the testing of a Power-Jet mixing system are:

– Nozzle designs affect the mixing results.

– For low water-cut, Power-Jet mixer flow rate at 25% of the calculated value provides inadequate oil/water distribution.

– Above 50% of calculated value it was adequate to distribute the free water over the cross section of the pipe at the lowest pipeline velocity of 0.2m/s.

– For high water-cut - 50% v/v - a Power-Jet mixer flow rate of 100% of the calculated value was adequate to distribute the free water over the cross section of the pipe at the lowest pipeline velocity of 0.2 m/s

– Horizontal installations with all water-cut conditions yield better results for sampling at the centre of the pipe than top or bottom.

– Sampling in a vertical pipeline provided a representative sample at all main pipeline velocities, Power-Jet mixer flow rates and water-cuts.
