Robert has two CVs – a two-page graduate CV for a Graduate Traineeship in Design Engineering and a one-page CV for a part-time post as a Team Leader in a call centre. Graduate CV: As a design engineer, in whatever branch of engineering Robert chooses to specialise (his Masters allows him to work in almost any engineering discipline, as the focus of his degree is on the use of knowledge-based computer systems to support engineering design). As well as the knowledge gained from his subjects, projects and dissertations, Robert has identified and presented the technical skills he has developed through both his study and his work experience, including his knowledge of software, design skills and practical abilities. In addition, Robert has demonstrated his qualities and attributes and these tie in nicely with the personal skills sought in graduate trainee design engineers – for example, his interpersonal and team working abilities since design engineers often need to work across departments and liaise with both management and clients about their needs. Through constant practical exercises and assignments I have developed my problem solving skills and my ability to think logically. Since the course includes many presentations and team projects I have also strengthened my communication skills, which have been further enhanced through studying a second language. 2001-2006 Wallace High School, Stirling Highers: Mathematics (A), Physics (A), Computing (B), English (C) Standard Grades: 7 at Credit Level, including Business Studies. POSITIONS OF RESPONSIBILITY I was in charge of Finance in the Young Enterprise programme while at school. In this role I had to approach variety of individuals (including teachers and parents) and local companies to raise funding for our business, which designed and sold handmade plant pots. This experience improved my confidence and gave me firsthand knowledge of business, sales and customer care. I also took part in the Peer Support Network while at school, and helped 1st year pupils struggling with their Mathematics. WORK EXPERIENCE 2005-2006 Co-operative Supermarket, Stirling I worked Saturdays in my local co-op, stacking shelves and replenishing stock as and when required. This helped me develop my interpersonal skills, through both working as part of a team and answering customer queries, and also my ability to work under pressure, since I had to unpack and display large deliveries while the shop was busy.
