Syikin comes from a very poor family. Herfather is a fisherman and her mother is ahousewife. Her family has difficulties tomake ends meet. Despite all thesehardships, she never gives up on her study

because she is a very determined anddiligentgirl. She scored 5As in the UPSRexamination. She was also selected as thebest pupil at the national level.

Her parents were very happy and proud ofher achievement. They knew she wouldhave a better future than them. Theteachers at Syikins school were happy andproud that she had brought recognition tothe school. Everyone who knew hercongratulated her.

Zila and Asiah are good friends. One day, they played congkak inAsiahs house. While busy playing congkak, they heard a bell jinglenearby.

Asiah stood up and looked out of the window to find out the sourceof the noise. She then saw some children buying ice-cream from an ice-cream man. She also saw a poor girl next to the children. She did not haveany money to buy an ice-cream.

Out of sympathy, for the girl, Asiah went out of her house andbought three sticks of ice-cream. She then gave one to Zila and another

one to the poor girl. The poor girl was happy and grateful that Asiah hadhelped her. She thanked both Asiah and Zila for their kindness.

Last Saturday, Farah went to Rafidahs house. They were very good

friends. When Farah reached the house, they studied for half an hour andthen started to play congkak. While playing congkak, they heard thehouse bell ring.

Being wise girls, Farah and Rafidah looked outside through thewindow before opening the door. They saw little children buying ice-creamfrom the ice-cream man that came to Rafidahs house in the evenings. Butthere was a poor girl who had no money to buy an ice-cream.

They bought an ice-cream and gave it to the poor girl. They alsobought ice-creams for themselves. The girl was very happy and thankedRafidah and Farah.


Last Wednesday, Aini went to her best friends house, Aminah toplay congkak. Both the girls are very honest with each other. While theywere playing congkak in the living room, Aminah suddenly heard a bellringing outside the house.

Aminah looked out of the window and saw the ice-cream seller whousually came to her neighbourhood every day. She saw many childrenbuying ice-cream. Aminah spotted a girl standing next to the ice-creamseller. Aminah pitied her because she had no money.

Aini and Aminah decided to buy ice-creams for themselves and thegirl. They used their pocket money to buy three ice-creams. Aminah thengave one of the ice-creams to the girl. She was very happy and thankedthem for being kind-hearted.
