Sample Preparation and Quality Control: Eppendorf 5810R and Eppendorf 1524 The Eppendorf 5810R is a refrigerated centrifuge that has the capacity for both tubes and plates. FastPrep®-96 Instrument The FastPrep®-96 instrument is used to homogenize biological samples. It provides high-throughput processing (192 samples simultaneously in 2 x 96 deep well plates) of tissues and cells. The processed samples can then be used with KingFisher Flex instrument to quickly, easily and reproducibly isolate stable RNA, active proteins and full-length genomic DNA. KingFisher Flex- 96 samples The KingFisher Flex Magnetic Particle Processor is for DNA/RNA, protein or cell purification from virtually any source. This system comes with a fully automated high purification of nucleic acids, proteins and cells, a system which can process up to 96 samples in under 20 minutes and an open and flexible system that allows the customer to use any magnetic particle based kit to meet the application demands.

NanoDrop ND-1000 The NanoDrop ND-1000 UV/Vis Spectrophotometer allows micro level quantitation of only 1ul of sample with high reproducibility. This allows researchers to measure samples up to 50-fold higher in concentration than can be measured on classical 1 cm curette-based systems, virtually eliminating the need for dilutions.

Bio-Rad Experion Bioanalyzer The Bio-Rad Bioanalyzer is used for nucleic acid and protein analysis using an integrated “labchip” system that performs multiple electrophoresis steps in one. This instrument is utilized to assess nucleic acid quality required for downstream genomic applications. Medium Throughput Genetic Analysis:

Affymetrix GeneChip® Scanner 3000 7G System The Affymetrix platform provides a well-established and robust platform for genomic analysis across multiple species important for studying human disease (human, mouse, and rat). The system also allows for genetic analysis ranging from other eukaryotic model systems (Drosophila, Zebrafish), plants (rice, barley, cotton), and prokaryotic organisms (E. coli). The system provideS a diverse genomics platform, including, differential expression levels, gene regulation (epigenetics: ChIP-chip, methylation), resequencing, quantification of copy number changes (CNV), and assessment of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP).

RNAseq-Illumina MiSeq platform MiSeq is a desktop sequencer that can produce 2 x 300 paired-end reads in a single run and generated 15-20Gb. This allows small genome sequencing and assembly, and enables detection of target variants with

unmatched accuracy. All of this can be achieved using the targeted gene and small genome sequencer with short sample-to-data workflow.

Illumina NextSeq500 platform The NextSeq 500 Sequencing System delivers the power of high-throughput next generation sequencing (NGS) with speed and simplicity.
