Two sisters and the cat
Sarah and Alice are sisters.
Sarah lives in a house in Kuala Lumpur
and Alice lives in a condominium in
Shah Alam. One day Sarah visited her
sister. When her sister answered the
door, Sarah saw tears in her eyes.
"What's the matter?" she asked. Alice
said "My cat Comel died last night and I
have no place to bury him".
She began to cry again.
Sarah was very sad because she knew
her sister loved the cat very much.
Suddenly Sarah said "I can bury your cat
in my garden in Kuala Lumpur and you
can come and visit him sometimes."
Alice stopped crying and the two sisters
had tea together and a nice visit.
It was now five o'clock and Sarah said it
was time for her to go home. She put on
her hat, coat and gloves and Alice put
the dead Comel into a shopping bag.
Sarah took the shopping bag and
walked to the bus stop. She waited a
long time for the bus so she bought a
newspaper. When the bus arrived, she
got on the bus, sat down and put the
shopping bag on the floor beside her
feet. She then began to read the
newspaper. When the bus arrived at her
bus stop, she got off the bus and
walked for about two minutes. Suddenly
she remembered she had left the
shopping bag on the bus.

The boy in the picture thinks a lot about food. However, he is thinking only of food that contains
a lot of fat and carbohydrates. If he eats only these groups of food, his meals would not be balanced.
We should eat balanced meals. A balanced meal has five groups of food. They are fat,
carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals. Fat can be found in butter, nuts and fried food. Food
rich in carbohydrates are rice, potatoes, bread and noodles. Proteins are found in meat, fish, chicken
and beans. Fruits, vegetables and nuts give us a lot of vitamins and minerals.
The five groups of food help us in different ways. Fat and carbohydrates give us energy. Proteinsbuild and repair our tissues such as muscles. Vitamins and minerals improve our health. They also

Last weekend, there was heavy rain in Kampung Delima and the village was flooded. The flood
victims were moved temporarily to the village community hall. Yesterday, the 15 th November, I joined
the girl guides and the boy scouts from my school to help the flood victims.
Firstly, we distributed the food and drinking water to the victims. Each family received three
cans of sardine, a packet of rice, five packets of instant noodles and a few bottles of drinking water. We
also gave them clothes, towels and sleeping mats that were donated by the Parent Teacher Association
of our school.
Then, we helped to clean the hall. Some of us swept and mopped the floor. Later, we collected
the rubbish around the hall compound. We also cleaned the toilets and wiped the windows.
In the evening, we helped to take care of the children because their mothers were busy
cooking. Eddie and Chee Kiat told interesting stories to entertain the children. The children really
enjoyed listening to the stories. Later, we all sang some songs.
At the end of the day, we were glad that we had the chance to help the flood victims. If given a
chance, we would definitely volunteer to help those in need.

Your summary must:
not be more than 60 words, including the 10 words given below
be in continuous writing (not in note form)
be written in one paragraph
Use your own words as far as possible without changing its original meaning.
Begin your summary as follows
We can do several simple things in order to have
People nowadays generally have better health and better teeth compared with people a
generation ago. Most of our grandparents use false teeth. This situation is largely due to
poor nutrition in days of long ago. A lack of awareness on how to and why it is important to
maintain healthy teeth and gums also contributed to the situation.
Today we are luckier. We have nutritious food to eat. Foods that are rich in calcium
and phosphorous, such as milk and cheese, help us to have strong and healthy teeth. There
are also many products that help us keep our teeth clean. These are toothpaste,
toothbrushes, mouthwash and dental floss. When our teeth are clean, microorganism
cannot act to weaken the teeth nor can they cause gum disease. Our teeth will not decay.
There are many things we can do to ensure we have good teeth and gums. Start by
eating the right foods. Avoid sweet or sugary foods and adopt healthy practices like brushing
and flossing regularly.
