    Traveller is two things. It’s a rules set that allows players to undertake adventures in the far future – in ANY future – and it’s a broad and deep setting that can be used with any rules. The T20 line from QLI carries on this tradition. With the Travellers’ Handbook (the rulebook) you can set adventures anywhere. And the Traveller sourcebooks following it allow games to be run in the Official Traveller Universe using any rules. The assumption we’ve made for this book is that most players will be using the T20 rules, so we’ve included T20 stats where stats were necessary. However, we are also aware that many players will be using some other rules set, so the book is as generic as possible. Indeed, it would not be difficult to transplant the worlds and people of the Gateway Domain into some other game universe, in a game setting based on your favorite novel or TV series, or an entirely home-grown one. Gateway Domain will be further developed in a series of Grand Adventures and Cluster sourcebooks from QLI, but while the information in this book is “official” – i.e. part of the Traveller “Canon” – it’s not immutable. You are welcome to twist, warp, ignore, expand or contradict anything you find in here if your own ideas are more fun. Take what we’ve created and make it yours, or take from it what you want and ignore the rest. You will note that there is no “Referees Only” section in this book. This is for two reasons. First, putting up a sign saying “HERE BE SECRETS” isn’t a good way to keep them secret. Secondly, we’re not in the habit of dictating to referees how their games should run. What is presented in these pages are the “known facts” about a particular place, organization or person. But what is the truth? The truth is whatever the referee decides it to be. Take the Loyal Sector Guard, for example. Are they a jackbooted elite political organization or an ineffectual bunch of rich people who just like having a fancy uniform to wear? The organization is large enough that both could be true. Or there could be some entirely different “truth” behind the LSG. It’s up to the referee to decide what to do with any given piece of information, to integrate it into the campaign or to ignore it. In short: Here’s a book about Gateway Domain. It’s yours now. Do with it what you will…

    ABOUT THIS BOOKGateway to Destiny is a supplement for Traveller20 (T20) and Classic Traveller (CT), and forms part of QuikLink Interactive’s T20 product line. The book contains a complete game setting – four sectors of space along the Trailing border of the Third Imperium – which can be used with any version of Traveller, or indeed with any SF rules set. Most of the information presented in this book is derived or extrapolated from existing Traveller material, and can therefore be considered “Canon”. Some entirely new information has been developed from this book, and all canon materials have

    been expanded and developed for the setting. Readers with access to Judges’ Guild materials set in this region should note that JG material has for many years not been considered “canon”, and is superseded by more up-to-date materials such as those presented here. However, efforts have been made to incorporate as much other pre-existing material as possible. Full details of the various races – K’Kree, Hivers etc – will be presented in a future publication, along with the extensive information on their culture, society etc. necessary if these races are to be used as player characters. This book includes sufficient information to allow the other races to be used as NPCs in a Traveller game, including basic stats. Note that where a race is detailed in the Traveller’s Handbook (THB), stats will not be unnecessarily repeated. This book presents an overview of the region and its great and small powers, then looks at the four sectors and the four quadrants within each in closer focus. UWPs are presented for all the worlds of the Domain, and in a few cases these UWPs are expanded to create a world write-up of a sort that might be used in an adventure. These write-ups can serve as examples of the sort of details a Referee might extrapolate from UWPs, or as ready-made adventure settings.

    STANDARDS AND ASSUMPTIONSWorld and system data in this book is presented in the standard T20 format, and where necessary, worlds were designed using the system found in the T20 Core Rule Book (the Traveller’s Handbook). This system is entirely compatible with Classic Traveller (CT) Book 3 and Book 6 world generation, and therefore with any Traveller rules set. Data is drawn from “canon” sources and extrapolated as needed. Standard Traveller practice has been followed for directions, dates etc. Thus the date 032-993 refers to the 32nd day of the 993rd year since the founding of the Third Imperium. SI units (meters, seconds etc) are also used throughout, except where normal Traveller practice dictates otherwise. Directions are given using the standard Traveller practice – towards the Galactic core is Coreward, away from it is Rimward. Towards the direction of spin of the galaxy is Spinward, away from it is Trailing.
