Preface
The book deals with the overview, of the various
aspects, of quality, in the health-care industry. The
health-care quality, in the hospital industry, can be
measured. The main aim, of the book, is to make a
person aware, about the various aspects, of the
health-care quality, in the health-care industry,
which is essential, for the following reasons:
➢ The successful treatment, of the patient, in
the health-care industry.
➢ The avoidance, of the hospital acquired
infections, in the health-care industry.
➢ The faster recovery, of the patient, in the
health-care industry.
➢ The faster discharge, of the patient, from the
health-care industry.
This knowledge will eventually help, in improving
the health-care systems, as people will be aware,
about the various aspects of health-care quality, to
be observed in the health-care industry. This
process, will eventually lead to increased success
rates, of the medical treatments and the faster
recovery, of the patients, in the health-care industry.

Chapter 1
What is a health-care system, in the
health-care industry?
The health-care system consists of health-care
professionals, institutions, services and resources
that deliver health-care services, to promote health-
care, of the communities.
This includes, the efforts, to improve the health-
care. The health-care systems are complex in nature
and involve various elements, which are as follows:
➢ Hospital systems
➢ Patient care services
➢ Insurance services
➢ Clinics of doctors
➢ Polyclinics
There are three different types of hospital systems,
in the health-care industry, which are as follows:

Public Hospitals The public hospitals are funded and owned by the
government. The health-care system is designed in
such a way, that even the poor, can get access, to
the various types of health-care, in a timely and
cost-effective manner.
Non-profit Hospitals The non-profit hospitals are community based
hospitals. The main aim, of a non-profit hospital, is
to provide health-care services to the community.
Private Hospitals The private hospitals are owned by the investors.
Their main aim is to earn a profit. The private
hospitals, offer more profitable health-care services.
They try to attract patients, by providing quality
health-care services, at a price. The quality of
health-care service is one of the main elements, to
attract the patients.

Chapter 2
What are the various types of the
health-care system?
There are various types, of the health-care system,
for the patients, in the health-care industry. The
types, of the health-care system, depend on the
need, of the patients. The various types, of the
health-care services, are based on the patient’s need,
which are as follows:
Primary care
The primary care, in the health-care industry, is
the health-care services, for the patients, to
provide the following:
➢ To prevent disease, through regular physical
exams.
➢ To take care of patient's general health, by
diagnosing and treating, the medical
problems.
➢ If a patient has a health problem, that
requires special skill, a primary care doctor,
will refer the patient to a specialist. The
