Symmetry is when you can split an object in half and both sides look exactly the same. Symmetry isn’t something that you measure

My mom said I could get a puppy, but I have to help my dad build a rectangle cage for it in the backyard. I want to make it big enough so my puppy has room to play. If I make the perimeter 40 feet what would the length and width be? How much area would my puppy have to play?

Perimeter= 15ft + 15ft + 5ft + 5ft =40 ft 30ft + 10ft =40ftArea = 15ft x 5ft=75 square feet

I would need to know how to find perimeter if I was building something.Like if I was building a sandbox with my dad or

a box for a flower bed. I would need to know the perimeter to figure out how many pieces of wood we need to buy.

I would need to know how to find the area if I was buying a new rug.Like if I was getting a new race track rug for my

room I would need to know the area of it to make sure it will fit in my room.

I would use perimeter when making a garden with my group. We might want to put a border around it and we would need to know the perimeter.

I would need to know the area of our garden so I can talk to the landscaper about how many plants we need to put in it to take up the space.

I want to make sure our garden is the same on both sides so I would need to use a line of symmetry to make sure it is.
