conclusion Being active in profession for 8 years, working in both small and big scaled offices I have learned various approaches to architectural design. I have had experienced producing spaces almost in every scale and various themes. I came through in almost every phase. From conceptual design, to preparing legal documents, from application project to prototyping. Thinking of design and production in every scale has enabled my overall thinking about subjects and taught me that a project starts on the day that you have got the brief and lasts until the end of the site construction.

SELECTED WORKs

Located in the historical Syrian Passage - Beyoğlu, the swimwear company office restorated to meet the brands next generation identity. The original wall texture of the passage brought into the open by scratching the paint on top off it. As this texture became the main element of the spatial identity, rest of the furnitures and showroom systems designed and located as basic but bold attachments.
ŞEHİTKAMİL ART CENTERwhat: competition, concert hall, art incubator where: Gaziantep when: 2016 by: Samim Magriso, İpek Baycan Magriso role: project head, design, renders
Locating just next to the greenbelt of the city, this site has lots of potentials and The Art Center can be a very good approach to enhance this potential. Project offers to revitalize the connection between to main lines by its welcoming ground and continiuos plan. The concert hall in the middle allows side functions to line up around itself. Various functions are the key to serve the continious ramp of the building. This welcoming typology allows visitors to join the production phases of the artist. Thus, the building become integrated with the ctiy itself.
TEKİRDAĞ MUNICIPALITYwhat: competition, urban design, municipality building where: Tekirdağ when: 2015 by: Samim Magriso, Ege Özgirin, İzgi Uygur, Alican İnal role: project head, design, renders, plans
The competition brief was designing the new municipality building combined with a city square and an urban park with an urban design proposal for a 500.000 sqm zone at outer Tekirdag. The designated urban development area is a first quality farming field. The proposal merges this input with a topographical analyze. A farming axle located on level 148 reaches to the municipality building and it connects the urban design zone with the new square and park. Square form and the huge public courtyard of the municipality building provides transparency not only for the identity of the municipality, also for the use of the building. All the office areas located on the outer circle of the building while the inner circle provides circulation and common spaces.
SCHOOL RENOVATIONwhat: partial school renovation, interior where: Ulus, Istanbul when: 2019 by: DeX Architects role: project head, renders, drawings
Project extent is interior renovation of an existing school complex in Ulus, which was built in 1994. The main was adopting a contemporary way of design for the learning spaces, by means of a newer educational understanding along with today’s approach of architecture and use of material.
Because of the possible high traffic and high student interaction, selecting durable materials was another challenge. Which led the team to consider every detail twice to reach a refined and convincing result.
KONAK MUNICIPALITYwhat: competition, municipality building, urban design where: Konak, İzmir when: 2015 by: Samim Magriso, Yiğit Yalgın, A. Selin Gürel role: project head, design, renders, plans
The competition brief was designing the new municipality building combined with a city development zone at Konak / Izmir. Project forms itself questioning the ongoing state building-citizen relationship. Instead of creating a sharp border with an urban plaza in front of a monoblock building, the project proposes maximum interface area with its canopy and urban nishes on ground level and sectional form on upper levels. Four blocks and a plinth divide functions. South block includes administrative functions, while two north blocks include construction and fieldwork functions. The plinth and middle block includes most active and public functions. Open shadowed areas in between blocks, allows natural ventilation which is a must in Izmir climate.

BEYOGLU THEATREwhat: renovation project where: Beyoglu / Istanbul when: 2015 by: Architecture For All Association and Collabarators role: project head, designer, general production
The Beyoğlu Cinema, which has been functioning since 1989, is one of the rare cinema theatres in Istanbul where independent films are being screened. It was going through hard times to maintain its existence. After one of our followers pointed out this situation we met up with the manager Temel Kerimoğlu. He said that they are open to various collaborations to keep it running we made a workshop announcement. A group of around 50 people which consisted of the regulars of the theatre, young crews which are interested in cinema, architects and students attended this workshop which took place in the foyer of the Beyoğlu Cinema. Discussions were held, and ideas were put forward under 3 main titles: - The physical/architectural state and deficiencies of the cinema and the foyer space- Communication methods- Event proposals
One of the established topics was taking support from professional crews, besides architecture which is our profession, for any moves of promotion. Sarraf Galeyan Mechanics (SGM), a production agency, and El Turco Digital (ETD), an advertisement agency, were contacted. Following the positive returns from both offices, we had several meetings to discuss how we can collaborate. Firstly, with the SGM crew, we decided to produce a video which would explain the Beyoğlu Cinema’s significance for independent cinema and Turkish cinema. In addition Ozan from the ETD crew put forward some ideas about using the cinema for campaigning. We shared his idea through social media with the slogan “GET OUT OF THE SHOPPING MALL, LAY CLAIM TO YOUR CINEMA”. This move, along with the effect of the current events, made a significant influence in terms of raising awareness. Taking advantage of the empty theatres in summer months with a small budget, we started the alteration of the theatre and the foyer. In scope of this alteration, entrance signage, staircase section were designed and the tall wall situated in the large foyer, through graphic works which depict cult movie cues placed on polycarbonate sheathing illuminated from the back, was dissociated from the other walls.

Thus a two-story urban platform designed. Above these, offices and multipurpose hall located.
DIY SQUAREwhat: temporary urban installation where: anywhere when: 2013 by: Samim Magriso
YAP IM 2013what: temporary installation where: Istanbul Modern Museum Garden when: 2013 by: Salon Architects role: project architect, renders
Haze is a pavilion that shifts the perception of a specific shore condition of Tophane Pier with an experiential design.
As the installation transforms Istanbul Modern into a garden of stages, it also prepares an unexpected architectural condition for the distant relationship of Istanbul and the sea. The space brings water and people together in a unique fashion in the middle of a 1.5 km customs border wall, which is located in the city center.
Haze creates its own cool microclimate on the warmest days of the year, and also hosts various intriguing events. The pavilion facilitates self-organized events for the public to allow the diffusion of social clusters and to create mutual understanding among them. It has 3 different stages surrounded by various seating platforms, as well as shaded lodges.
DENKTAS MEMORIAL what: competition, mouselum where: Lefkosa, Cyprus when: 2012 by: Salon Architects role: project architect, renders, drawings
Grown out of the traces of existing urban texture, the complex is dedicated to the memory of Rauf Denktaş, the founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The project consists of two simple landscape gestures, intended to symbolize certain concepts and moments out of the collective memory of Northern Cypriots: A rift in the earth to evoke the traumatic events in the island’s history; the battles and losses. Conversely, the ground pattern that folds itself into a new, erected topographical formation, represents hopes and dreams.
