President’s LetterThis year nearly 1,000 members and guests attended and participated in our Post meet-
ings, Programs, Community Service Projects, Youth Outreach Opportunities and NationalSecurity Presentations. By the close of December, the Tulsa Post will have awarded $8,000 inscholarships as we continue to focus on mentoring and educating our membership and theyoung men and ladies of our community.
We took it over the top this year! When we set out to plant 200 trees for the Departmentof Wildlife in the Keystone floodplain, we planted 2,000 instead - in spite of fierce wether. Wecame to the aid of devestated Florida with a $1000 donation to the Red Cross and countleshours from our Sustaining Firms, Individual Members and CoE volunteers.
Our sustaining member agency, the Tulsa District USACE, deployed more civilians than anyother District - voluntarily. We brought City, State, and Federal agencies together in severalforums for the betterment of our community. We not only continued to support theEngineering Camp through Post finances, but we dug deep into our own pockets, as the emer-gency call for mentors was answered. Support from our sustaining firms was unpresedented,as almost every member firm contribute financially in addition to time to the Tulsa Post thisyear. Your extraordinary leadership netted over $5,700 for our Scholarship Golf Tournamentand $1,900 at our October Tulsa/OKC Post Imporoving Life in Oklahoma Program.ARCADIS will make the final contribution for the year by underwriting our DecemberProgram and once again adding to our Scholarship Fund.
All of this and yet it has been but a single bond we shared - membership in the Society ofAmerican Military Engineers. To grow one must step up and step out. By faith, beyond anyindividual talent, we have achieved more together for the benefit of all. The more we werecalled upon, the more it became evident what our Tulsa Post and Members were made of -Strength, Courage, and Tenacity.
We have marked this year with the introduction of our own Tulsa Post Coin p r e s e n t e dfirst to our honored deployed members and military. We will always remember their selfless sacrifice they made and others will make in their service to our Country.
We started every program with the Pledge of Allegiance to our great Country who not onlydefends us and our freedom, but also fights for the freedom of all people. And we prayed w i t hgrateful hearts and a humble request to do the will of God in all that we placed before Him.
I have been truly honored to serve as your leader this year. I have been inspired, refreshed, and challenged. Thank you all for the gifts of your time and talent, most especiallythe Tulsa Post Board of Direction. You have been faithful and relentless.
May this year be a benchmark from which to grow.
Gratefully Yours,
Donna M. WeinkaufPresident SAME Tulsa Post
