University of Waterloo: 3A Studio. Project: Large Mixed Use Building
The class was asked to design a large mixed use building on a vacant lot between Wellesley and Breadalbane in Toronto. It was to include 230 residential units of various sizes as well as 30 live /work units, a theater with production space, retail space, a gallery to be used by the live/work patrons, and finally generous public space, indoor and out.

In this project I tried to resolve the atmosphere of Henry David theau’s imagined “loftier” cabin with his philosophies on econmoics. In other words, inspired by a passage from Walden I have dreamt up an uninsulated heavy timber cabin for the forests of Massachusetts.

A Home where double stud, remotely fabricated wall components are easily assembled on site by unskilled workers uses passive heating cooling and ventilation tecniques. The aim is that the inhabitants can live comfortably, respectably, and effeciently.
