The SALVO NewsletterStudy to assess cell-salvage in obstetrics
Susan Williams (principal investigator) and Sharon Jones (research midwife) at Singleton Hospital, introduce their SALVO research team:
As a newly appointed Anaesthetic Consultant and newly appointed Research Midwife to Singleton hospital, running the SALVO project on a busy labour ward, which had never undertaken such research before, was always going to be a challenge. In March 2015 our team expanded to include 2 additional research midwifes who job-share a full time post, Helen Worrell and Trudy Smith. Despite many obstacles and challenges to recruitment, which are surely not unique to Singleton hospital, we have maintained a good recruitment rate month on month. This reflects the hard work of the research team and we were delighted when Sharon Jones was recognised for this by the ABMU Trust when we were joint winners of the VIP Chairmans award for Research and Innovation - Promoting Research, Engagement and application to Practise.
