Children are assessed as part of the Early YearsProfile which is shared with parents duringFoundation Stage.

Statutory assessment procedures are completedat the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2) and Key Stage2 (Year 6). Results are reported as part of thechildren’s annual report, which every childreceives.

We acknowledge that children who have specialneeds, including high achievers or less able, areones who require some form of special needsprovision. We believe that we should treat allchildren as individuals and provide opportunitiesfor them all. Any concerns we have we bring firstto parents and our colleagues for consultation andhelp before involving outside agencies (e.g.Psychological Service, Specialist TeachingServices). For children who show particular abilityin areas of the curriculum, investigative work towiden and consolidate is recommended, andthe children will have opportunities to work withothers of similar ability.

The Psychological Service provided by the EducationDepartment, offers help to those children withspecial educational needs whether of a permanentor temporary nature. Where school is concernedabout a child's development this will be discussedwith the parents and the most appropriate courseof action agreed.

Our SEND Policy can be found on our website.

We have developed a positive policy for encouraginggood behaviour through praise, example, andincreased responsibility for the children.

We have a well-developed rewards system toencourage pupils to work hard, achieve success, show respect and make positive contributions tosociety. We use a Merit system from Key Stage 2and weekly Superstar Certificates across school. We also have weekly celebration assemblies forall pupils.

Where a child gives cause for concern throughirresponsible or antisocial behaviour includingbullying, we have various strategies in place to dealwith these issues. Through establishing a positivebehaviour policy with small achievable steps inplace, we hope to be able to prevent poor behaviourand confrontation. If a child does not respond toour support policy parents will be informed andsanctions discussed.

Our campus Parents' Teachers’ and Friends'Association (PTFA) supports activities to raise funds. All parents and carers are welcome to becomemembers or support any activities.

Our school uniform gives an increased sense ofpride, identity and belonging to our school. It alsomakes everyone equal - research has shown thatincidents of peer pressure and bullying can bereduced when children are not so preoccupied withcomparisons of appearances and what they wear.
