Magnetic Bead System — AutomationSaliva DNA can either be isolated from saliva samples collected and preserved using Nor-gen’s Saliva Collec-tion and Preservation Devic-es or fresh saliva samples. After a brief Protein-ase K incubation, Magnetic Bead Suspensions are added to the sample and then placed on the magnetic separation rack.
Only the DNA will bind to the magnetic beads, while most of the proteins will be removed in the superna-tant. The bound DNA is then washed in order to re-move any remaining impurities, result-ing in a high quality DNA elution.
