Join us for the Spring Basketball Clinic directed by Guy Robinson of HYPE Basketball Academy. This clinic will work on passing, rebounding, dribbling, defense, shooting, sportsmanship, teamwork, conditioning, fundamentals and more! Groups will be broken down by age and ability during each session.

Summer Rec Basketball

Free Salem Residents/$20.00 non residents

We will be providing park instructors to coordinate supervised activities at the Mary Jane Lee and Furlong Playgrounds. Instructors will be at both playgrounds from 9:00am – 12:00pm and 1:00-4:00pm each day. Our playgrounds will be staffed from July 2nd – Friday, August 17th. Playgrounds will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th. Children are allowed to come and go at their discretion and participate in any desired activity. This is a drop in program, therefore there is no pre registration required. We do ask parents to fill out an emergency contact informational form on the first day the child attends.

our program are welcome to participate in the Salem Summer Meals Program. Each day, lunches will be dropped off at Forest River Park free of charge. This summer, the city pool will be closed for renovations. Therefore, we will be adding additional water play games to our schedule as well as visits to the Splash Pad at Mary Jane Lee Playground. The city will be providing lifeguards to some of the city beaches, so we may be scheduling some beach trips. In order for your child to swim at the beach with us, they must pass a swim test or they will need to wear a life jacket. You will be notified when the tests will take place.

This program is designed for teens who want to have summer fun, but also want to further develop leadership and communication skills, and gain experience working with children. This group will be based at Forest River and will join the Forest River Adventure Program at scheduled times during the day. The Youth Leadership Program will have an assigned staff leader who will plan morning activities to include group activities, community service projects and leadership training. The group is welcome to participate in the Salem Summer Meals Program. Each day, lunches are dropped off free of charge. After lunch, teens will be assigned to help out in one of the adventure groups.

Enrichment Programs at Palmer Cove Park

We will be offering a series of enrichment programs at the Palmer Cove Park during the

months of July and August. All programs are free for Salem Children. Space is limited, so

sign up early. Each enrichment program will run Monday – Thursday, with Friday serving as a

make-up day if necessary. Children should bring a water bottle and towel to sit on for all

programs. Programs are being funded by the City of Salem Department of Planning and

Community Development and the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Players with less experience will learn proper foot skills, passing, trapping and shooting techniques. Each day will consist of numerous skill sessions, fun soccer activities and scrimmages.
