Young Adults: Join Us for Praise & Worship Adoration

February 3, 2016

Are you a Catholic adult in your 20s and 30s? CYACC (pronounced "kayak") exists to offer you social, spiritual, and service opportunities in the local area. Join us Wednesday February 3, 2016 for our monthly Praise & Worship Adora-tion. Holy Hour begins at 7:30 PM in the lower chapel of St. Agnes in West Chester. Confession will be available. For more info, check us out on Facebook or email us at [email protected].

11 Cents: Ignorant of Christ? (The Bible Part 1)

If we believe in God, we should want to know God. If we love God we should always want to know God better. St. Jerome said, “To be ignorant of Scripture is to be ignorant of Christ.” If we want to know God we need to meet Him in His Word.

Sometimes, we may feel that God is far from us or silent in our life but all the while our Bibles are gath-ering dust on our bookshelves. I can imagine myself praying, “Speak to me God” and God yelling back, “I did! For like 2,000 pages.”

Many people avoid Scripture because it intimidates them or they grew up with the mentality that Scrip-ture was not for lay people to read. When people do decide to start reading Scripture they often try to read it cover to cover. That is very dangerous be-cause if you make it through Leviticus you will slip into a coma somewhere during the Book of Num-bers.

If a person wants to read the Bible more they should start with the Gospels or the Old Testament stories or the Acts of the Apostles.

It is very important to not zone out if we begin to read a passage we have heard before. The Bible is the Word of God so it contains within it infinite truth. It will never cease to offer us something new if we approach it with patience, humility, and a heart open to receiving. When we prayerfully and slowly read through a part of Scripture, especially if we read the same passage multiple times we will be amazed at what we find that we never noticed before.

Speak, Lord, your servants are listening!

40 Days for Life – A Work of Mercy for the

Jubilee Year of Mercy!

40 Days for Life is a community-based campaign that takes a peaceful approach to showing local communities the reality of abortion in their own neighborhoods. Participants sign up online and sacrifice one hour to stand and give witness out-side of an abortion facility. This prayerful witness is a wonderful way to reach mothers with the mes-sage of mercy. Women are offered real alterna-tives and support, awareness is raised in the com-munity about abortion and God's forgiveness is extended to those participating in abortion. This act of mercy is truly a grace filled time and beauti-ful way to serve as a witness to God's love and mercy. Campaigns are being conducted from February 10 through March 20 in West Ches-ter, Norristown, and Center City Philadelph-ia. Please visit www.40daysforlife.com, or call 215.885.8150.

“When Courage & Mercy Meet”

February 14, 2016

Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood Director, now pro-life advocate, will be speaking on Sunday, February 14, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at St. Peter Church, 2835 Manor Road, West Bran-dywine, PA 19320. Abby’s life changed dramatically on September 26, 2009 when she was asked to assist with an ultra-sound-guided abortion. At that moment, the full realization of what abortion was and what she had dedicated her life to, washed over her and a dra-matic transformation took place. Her best-selling book Unplanned, chronicles both her experiences within Planned Parenthood and her dramatic exit.
