Dear Parishioners,
We have been reminded that Canon Law allows us to accept only (1) one Mass Intention for each Mass. In order to allow all of our parishioners to have an opportunity to have a Mass Intention for their love ones; we have found it necessary to allow only ONE Mass Intention per month a total of 12 for the year.
If you have several people you would like to offer a Mass intention for, please keep this in mind. This will assist us and give everyone a chance. We so appreciate your help and kindness.
Please note: On Monday January 20: there is no 6:30 am Mass.
However, all are welcome to the 8 am Mass,.
On Wednesday, January 22: No confessions heard from 5-6 pm and No Spanish Mass celebrated at 6:30 pm. Please Pray for the Respect of Life!

Se nos ha recordado que el Derecho Canónico nos permite aceptar solo (1) una Intención por cada Misa. Para permitir que todos nues-tros feligreses tengan la oportunidad de tener una Intención al mes para sus seres queridos; hemos encontrado que es necesario permitir solo UNA Intención al mes, un total de 12 por año.

This Lent grow closer to Christ through a five-part video series, entitled “No Greater Love: A Biblical Walk Through Christ’s Passion”, that guides us through the last hours of Christ’s life. Plus, a daily reflection from one of our clergy.
On this biblical pilgrimage, filmed on location in the Holy Land, best-selling author Edward Sri will walk us step by step with Jesus from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Mount of Calvary. Along the way, Dr. Sri and others will unpack the biblical background to these events, the prophecies, and most espe-cially, the way Jesus is inviting us to walk more closely with Him today. The Children's “Liturgy of the Word” dismissal is celebrated at the Sunday, 9 am Mass, through May 2020. The children are invited to hear the word proclaimed and explained at their level. They will rejoin their families at the time of the creed, to
continue the celebration of the Mass. All children are welcome. Parents are invited to join their children, especially those too young to dismiss alone.

They will also continue to Learn more about holy Mass with presentations on: Preparation of the Chalice, Preparation of the Cruets, Jesus Present in the Word, & Eucharistic Presence. Walk For Life West Coast 2020 St. Rose of Lima Parish Roseville, CA Join fellow Catholics and Pro-Lifers from all over Cali-fornia and beyond as we stand up for the littlest among us at the 16th Annual Walk for Life West Coast in San Francisco on January 25, 2020. Last year’s Walk drew 50,000+ people. This year’s rally will begin at 12:30 pm in San Francisco’s Civic Center
Plaza, and the Walk, down Market Street, will begin at 1:30 pm. St. Rose is hosting a bus to the Walk for Life. For those of you who are interested in attending details are as follow:
Registration: 7:00 am (parish hall) Mass: 8:00 am (Main church)
Departure: 9:00 am (back parking) Tickets: $30.00 per person

Caminata Pro-Vida Costa Oeste 2020 Parroquia Santa Rosa de Lima

Anual Caminata de Pro-Vida en San Francisco el 25 de enero del 2020. La caminata del año pasado atrajo a más de 50,000 personas. Sacrifice: “to make holy,” to set someone or something apart for service. Ambrose knew these virtues indispensable for discipleship, but challenging to practice in his world—or our own. Barely a teenager, Agnes faced gruesome tortures bravely and, when ordered to worship pagan gods, boldly made the Sign of the Cross instead. Thus, her youthful courage strengthened adult believers who wavered under persecution or grew indifferent when persecutions passed. To bestow on Agnes its highest honor and keep her witness fresh in believers’ hearts, the Church inscribed her name at the heart of the Eucharistic liturgy, in the Roman Canon (Eucharistic Prayer I), until Vatican II the Roman Church’s only Eucharistic Prayer.
SAN VICENTE (Siglo III) 22 de enero
San Vicente nació en Zaragoza, España y, debido a su buen uso de la palabra y formación académica, fue nombrado como coadjutor del obispo Valerio para que le ayudara en la predicación, pues el obispo era tartamudo. Una vez ordenado diácono se distinguió por la predicación elocuente y la defensa de la fe. Fue arrestado mientras visitaba a su obispo, preso a causa de la persecución impulsada por el emperador Daciano quien, al saber que visitó a su obispo mandó que lo apresaran, haciéndolo caminar desde Zaragoza hasta Valencia. Una vez preso se le sometió a la tortura, no obstante, la tortura no lograba nada y el emperador, lleno de ira, mandó que golpearan a los torturadores. Posteriormente le hizo encerrar en una celda oscura, llena de tiestos filosos para que se cortara sus pies, pero no renunció a su fe cristiana, convirtió al carcelero y cantó himnos de alabanza. Finalmente, puesto que nada lograba contra él, lo encarceló de por vida y ahí, en la soledad de su celda y sus enfermedades encontró la muerte.

Exciting News! St. Rose has adopted a seminarian to assist him with our prayers and support during his educational process. His name is Victor Goranov.
A little about Victor…his favorite devotion is the Jesus Prayer. His discernment to the priesthood first emerged out of being in the RCIA process learning about our faith, and learning about the “priest shortage” within the Church. That’s when he first came across the practice of discernment, which was previously unknown to him. He was born in Russia in 1991. He has a degree in history from UC Davis. In 2016, a few months prior to starting seminary, Victor lived an A.C.T.S. retreat; which he states, “was a holy experience”. He is attending year two of Theology at St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park and appreciates our prayers.

Un poco sobre Víctor ... su devoción favorita es la oración de Jesús. Su discernimiento al sacerdocio surgió primero de estar en el proceso de RICA aprendiendo acerca de nuestra fe y aprendiendo acerca de la "escasez de sacerdotes" dentro de la Iglesia. Fue entonces cuando se encontró por primera vez con la práctica del discernimiento, que antes era desconocido para él. Nació en Rusia en 1991. Es licenciado en historia por UC Davis. En 2016, unos meses antes de comenzar el seminario, Victor vivió un Retiro de A.C.T.S. que él afirma, "fue una experiencia sagrada". Asiste en el segundo año de Teología en el Seminario de San Patricio en Menlo Park y aprecia nuestras oraciones.

LLAMADOS A SER SANTOS
Este domingo comienza el Tiempo Ordinario. Las lecturas nos hablan sobre la relación de Dios con Israel y la relación de Juan Bautista con Jesús. La relación entre Dios y Israel es tan estrecha, tan íntima, que es por mediación de Israel que “la salvación [de Dios] llega hasta los últimos rincones de la tierra” (Isaías 49:6). Pero sabemos por Juan Bautista que para que Israel cumpla la voluntad de Dios, debe reconocer que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios. Durante estas semanas también llegamos a conocer a Jesús. Comenzemos a entender más profundamente nuestra relación con Jesús y lo que la misma significa para nosotros, que somos “su pueblo santo” (1 Corintios 1:2).
CALLED TO BE HOLY
With this Sunday we begin Ordinary Time. The readings tell us about God’s relationship with Israel and John the Baptist’s relationship with Jesus. Israel’s relationship with God is so close, so intimate, that it is through Israel that God’s “salvation [will] reach to the ends of the earth” (Isaiah 49:6). But we know from John the Baptist that for Israel to accomplish God’s will, it must also recognize that Jesus is the Son of God. During these weeks we also get to know Jesus. We begin to understand more deeply our relationship to Jesus and what that relationship means for us, who are “called to be holy” (1 Corinthians 1:2).
