Stewardship

FILL OUR FOOD CART When you come to Mass, don’t forget to come with food for the hungry. During the summer months, our focus is on providing food for children, such as peanut butter & jelly, cereals and other non-perishable breakfast and snack items, canned or packaged tuna, macaroni and cheese and canned fruit and vegetables. Greensboro Urban Ministry picks up the food from our cart when it is full, so let’s try to keep it full! The food cart is located in our Church near the choir room and bathrooms. Thank you for your generosity.

SMALL THINGS WITH LOVE This spring and summer, while you are traveling, please remember those less fortunate in our community and pick up any new and unused personal toiletry items. We collect these in our parish office as the need in our community is significant. “In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love."

-Saint Teresa of Calcutta

OUR PARISH SEEKS A NURSERY

HELPER to work approximately 7-8 hours per month, rotating with other helpers. The applicant must have good communication and social, skills to successfully work with our youngest parishioners and families. The helper must work with volunteers and be accountable for the safety of our youngest parishioners. Primary days for this role are Saturday and Sundays around Mass times, with occasional weeknights requested. Please submit a résumé to the parish office at P.O. Box 13588 Greensboro, NC 27415-3588.

INTERESTED IN BECOMING A

PERMANENT DEACON? Have you thought God might be calling you to serve the Church as a deacon? Would you like to know more about the process involved in becoming a permanent deacon? The office of the permanent diaconate continuously collects names of men who are inquiring into the diaconate. If interested in finding out more, please call Deacon Scott D. Gilfillan at 828-327-7441 or email him at [email protected]. The diocese starts a new formation class every four years. An important cut-off is approaching. Before being selected for diaconate formation, a man has to complete the two-year Lay Ecclesial Ministry program offered by the diocese. Lay Ministry Program classes will begin this Fall-2018 with applications currently being accepted.

These details and more on this program can be found at: https://charlottediocese.org/ev/adult-education/

JUBILEE 2018 SAVE THE DATE! SEPTEMBER 14-16

Have you ever heard your fellow parishioners talk about Jubilee and wondered what it’s all about? It’s time you experience it yourself!

The Holy Spirit is calling you to know yourself, your church, and others in a deeper way. Jubilee offers times for solitude (prayer, reflection, chapel, nature walks, healing); it provides times for interacting with fellow parishioners (sharing meals, Mass, music, fun, activities, party, laughter). Jubilee educates, enlightens, and offers peace. It feeds and reinforces faith and personal lives. Restore your spirit. We are now accepting applications. The reservation forms may be picked up at the St. Pius X Parish Office or available on-line at http://www.st.piusxnc.com/Jubilee and found under the Learn tab>Engage for Adults>Jubilee Parish Retreat. You’ll be glad you did!

If you have questions, please contact: Emma Linn at [email protected] or Kelly Jones at [email protected].

JESUS REVEALED

Tuesday Evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 pm

June 12 – August 28 (12 weeks)

Simmons Parish Center Facilitated by Dan Curran and Mary Colanero

Sign up at the Parish website: http://www.stpiusxnc.com/biblestudy

Or call the Parish Office (336) 272-4681 Materials: $32.00 - ordered by the parish and

available for pick up the week before class begins.

Jesus Revealed is an engrossing exegesis of the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, focusing on the typologies of Jesus through 18 of his unique names. Dr. Paul Thigpen and Fr. Jeffrey Kirby provide profound and practical spiritual insight to help apply what you learn to your own spiritual life.

WISDOM CIRCLE: EXPLORING THE

SPIRITUALITY OF AGING Wednesdays, June 13, 20, 27

10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Simmons Parish Center Register at Church Office-336-272-4681

This would be a discussion and faith-sharing group centered on the subject of aging. Participants would explore their concerns and blessings in light of their faith and relationship with God. Marge Birge, a certified Spiritual Director, will facilitate the sessions. You can contact her at 336-288-8779, or email at [email protected].

Some questions we could explore are: • Who am I now? • What fears do I have about myself as I age? • How has my spirituality changed and matured over

time? • How has my notion of the Divine matured since I

was a child? • How can I assess my progress toward a more mature spirituality? • How do I make decisions at this time of life

concerning loss, downsizing? • What are my thoughts about end-of-life issues?
