From the Rector’s Desk… Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
We are half way through Lent and as I said last Sunday, how are we doing? It
is the tradition of the Church that, as a discipline to increase our devotion to
Jesus, we either add on something that will help us act as better Christians and/
or we give up something as a discipline to makes us better people and/or to be
more mindful of Jesus in our lives. So, I am just checking in.
I would also like to promote our Lenten/Easter season series on Wednesdays.
It is part of our devotion to "Building our Spiritual Houses". We have chosen a
study by Alex and Stephen Kendrick called "Battle Plan for Prayer". There are
eight parts to it, each self contained; so if you have not made one yet, do not despair. You can enter in
and will gain from the effort. In fact the ones coming up are REALLY GOOD! The Kendrick brothers
offer meaningful and practical ways we can improve our prayer lives.
2016, here in The Family of St. Paul's, is devoted to improving our prayer lives. This series is a great
start to this movement. There will other events designed to help us in this venture during the year. I am
convinced that for The Family of St. Paul's to meet the high calling that is upon us, it will be built upon
the shoulders of people on their knees. There have been many great prophecies made about this
wonderful church. Each of them stem from us being a praying Church.
We are so blessed to be building upon the shoulders of great members who devoted themselves to prayer
on our behalf. I cannot but remember the Wednesday morning prayer group with some of the greats
among us: Arthe Duncan, Ann Hedgecock, Ruth Calk, Ellen Buddecke, Pat Reed, and others. More re-
cently taken up with the Daughters of The King. Men of great faith who prayed for this to happen. I think
of Sid Galloway, Frank Charpentier, Donald Duncan, joined by Bob Harwell and Dick Chilvers, mem-
bers of The brotherhood of St. Andrew and others.
I hope we can see this year as the year in which we rekindle the flame of these prophecies that herald
great things for this parish in our future.
YBIC,
Paul

From Your Senior Warden, Greetings Family of St. Paul’s, This past Sunday, I addressed those in attendance at the 10:30am service on
the event with our guest speaker Karen Abercrombie, “Miss Clara” from the
movie, War Room; but I wanted to ensure all of “Our "family were
included in receiving a heartfelt “Thank You” and update on this glorious
evening. Those who attended could attest that it was more than just an event,
it was a “happening,” a “revival” and the Spirit of the Lord was in this place
we call St. Paul’s. Looking out over the congregation of so much diversity,
not seeing a vacancy in the house, was a great sight to behold, giving great
joy to Karen and pride to me. But I believe Father Paul expressed it best by
saying, “This is what church is supposed to look and be like.” But this was
no accident, it was in the plan, God’s plan, for us to listen to His calling and
reach out to secure Karen. There were so many behind the scenes participants and as Karen would
agree as an actress, nothing gets on the big screen without those who labor behind to ensure all is ready
by curtain call. We were ready! To those who were involved in the planning from the beginning, to
those who were physically present that evening to assist in every aspect of the event, to those who
helped us with their prayers, thank you so much and bless you abundantly, for it all works and works
together, for the glory of His Kingdom. Under “Her hat,” please know and be thankful, lives were
changed on Friday because of our faithfulness. Karen shared with Father Paul and me a couple of
thoughts you need to know and remember. Karen was so impressed by the outpouring of genuine
caring and love both upon her arrival, during and after her speaking, she shared this with Father Paul
who responded, “We have a good church.” Karen immediately responded back with, “No, you have a
great church.” In my trip back to the hotel with Karen after the event we spoke about the presence of
the Lord in the church and she said she visits many churches, with many members, but the atmosphere
is cold; but when she arrived at
St. Paul’s, she said, “your church
is filled with love, life and
light!” Love, Life and Light,
isn’t that what Jesus wants us to
share to others about Him and
the Kingdom of God? On Fri-
day, through the efforts of all
and the blessing of the Holy
Spirit, we shined the “Light,
Love and Life” of Jesus Christ
into a
darkened world.
Well done faithful servants!
Blessings,
Jim

Easter is almost with us! The celebration is very near.
Adorning the church with lilies is what we do each year,
To give God praise and thank Him for the Resurrection of His Son. The lilies trumpet forth,
“He’s risen!” each and every one.
