(One of the following forms of the penitential act is used:)

I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, (striking breast) through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. “May God have mercy on us, for-give us our sins and bring us to ev-erlasting life.” Amen.

“Have mercy on us, O Lord.” For we have sinned against you. Show us, O Lord, your mercy.” And grant us your salvation. “May God have mercy on us, for-give us our sins and bring us to ev-erlasting life.” Amen. “Lord, have mercy,” Lord, have mercy. “Christ, have mercy,” Christ, have mercy. “Lord, have mercy,” Lord, have mercy.

“Lord, have mercy,” Lord, have mercy. “Christ, have mercy,” Christ, have mercy. “Lord, have mercy,” Lord, have mercy. “May God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life.” Amen.

The Liturgy of the Word

“Let us pray.”

“Almighty ever-living God, lead us to a share in the joys of heaven, so that a humble flock may reach where the brave Shepherd has gone before.

Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,

for ever and ever.” Amen.

1st Reading - Acts 2:14a, 36-41

A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles

Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and proclaimed: "Let the whole house of Israel know for certain that God has made both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified." Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and they asked Peter and the other apostles, "What are we to do, my brothers?" Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is made to you and to your children and to all those far off, whomever the Lord our God will call." He testified with many other arguments, and was exhorting them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day.

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. In verdant pastures he gives me repose; beside restful waters he leads me; he refreshes my soul. He guides me in right paths for his name's sake. Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil; for you are at my side. With your rod and your staff that give me courage. You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for years to come.

Responsorial - Psalm 23

The Gospel of the Lord.

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Second Reading - 1 Peter 2:20b-25 A reading from the first Letter of Saint Peter Beloved: If you are patient when you suffer for doing what is good, this is a grace before God. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in his footsteps. He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth. When he was insulted, he returned no insult; when he suffered, he did not threaten; instead, he handed himself over to the one who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body upon the cross, so that, free from sin, we might live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you had gone astray like sheep, but you have now returned to the shepherd and guardian of your souls. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my sheep, and mine know me.

Jesus said: "Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever does not enter a sheepfold through the gate but climbs over elsewhere is a thief and a robber. But whoever enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice, as the shepherd calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has driven out all his own, he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, because they recognize his voice. But they will not follow a stranger; they will run away from him, because they do not recognize the voice of strangers." Although Jesus used this figure of speech, the Pharisees did not realize what he was trying to tell them. So Jesus said again, "Amen, amen, I say to you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly."

The Gospel of the Lord.

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Gospel - John 10:27-30

The Lord be with you. And with your Spirit.

A reading from the holy Gospel according to John.

Glory to you, O Lord.

Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven (bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Liturgy of the Eucharist

Presentation & Preparation of the Gifts

Apostle’s Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, (bow) who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.

May 3rd—Fourth Sunday of Easter

Friends in Christ: We have experienced and have many challenging times ahead, but as a people Saved in Hope through the Paschal Mystery- we are One Body in Christ- praying and caring for all the suffering. Thank God for all healthcare workers, researchers, teachers, families, first responders, military, and all in need of our prayers. Our parish is eternally grateful for all those who continue to support our ministries through prayers and financial support. Voice of the Good Shepherd- A reflection from St John Paul II “Lord, Jesus Christ, Good Shepherd of our souls, you who know your sheep and know how to reach man’s heart, open the minds and hearts of those…who search for and await a word of truth for their lives; let them understand that only in the mystery of your Incarnation do they find full light; arouse the courage of those who know where to seek the truth, but fear that what you ask will be too demanding; stir the heart of those who would follow you, but who cannot overcome doubts and fears, and who in the end follow other voices and other paths which lead to nowhere. You who are the Word of the Father, the Word which creates and saves, the Word which enlightens and sustains hearts, conquer with your Spirit the resistance and delays of indecisive hearts; arouse in those whom you call the courage of love’s answer: Here I am, send me! (Is 6:8) Virgin Mary, young daughter of Israel, support with your motherly love those whom the Father will grant that they hear his voice…Let them repeat with you the yes of a joyful and irrevocable gift of self. Amen” St John Paul II St Michael: Pray for us Our Lady of Lourdes: Pray for us

Some Claiming Spirituality are Just Haunted

On a recent late-night radio talk show, the topic was religion. An author who was interviewed stated: “I’m more spiritual than religious.”

Sheep without a Good Shepherd are lost. As Peter tells us in Sunday’s first reading (Acts 2:14a, 36-41), only in holiness can you find true spirituality—and therefore be found. Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is made to you and to your children and to all those far off, whomever the Lord our God will call.” Jesus was the Lamb of God, but he was not a lost lamb. In his suffering, he became a shepherd for the lost—and a leader for anyone suffering in their search for a home. Here’s what the world’s wolves in sheep’s clothing miss about the suffering they foster among lost sheep: The Good Shepherd recognizes his flock’s call because he knows their suffering. Peter continues in Sunday’s second reading (1 Pt 2:20b-25): If you are patient when you suffer for doing what is good, this is a grace before God. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in his footsteps. He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth. Phonies claiming spirituality without seeking holiness first are doomed to lose their way because their belief system lacks guidance. In Sunday’s gospel from John (Jn 10:1-10), Jesus gives all lost sheep a destination point and reveals the only gateway leading to it. Whoever does not enter a sheepfold through the gate but climbs over elsewhere is a thief and a robber. But whoever enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice, as the shepherd calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. Finding the way means the difference between achieving true spirituality and remaining aimless as a ghost. Visit https://volunteersignup.org/HWRFP to reserve time for further meditation before the Blessed Sacrament in our chapel of love.

Our goal is to provide prayer support and recognition for the men and women of the St Michael community who are serving on active duty in the United States Armed Forces.

If you have a family member or close friend serving on active duty who could use our community’s prayer support for their health, well being and safe return,

call the church office so we can add their name: Please provide their rank and which

branch of the service they are in.

Dear friends in Christ:

As you gather for meals please pray the following, seeking God’s Light and Peace through our Lord

Between mid-February and Palm Sunday, you gave $2317.

As a result, we are able to offer food from our pantry to our fellow parishioners and neighbors. And, because of the need for toiletries and cleaning products of which we have little in supply,

we were able to provide gift cards.

Your donations make an immediate and positive impact in many peoples' lives. May you continue to be richly blessed and highly favored!

SOCIAL JUSTICE CORNER BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, April 16, 2020 – Catholic Relief Services (CRS) joins a network of local, national and international non-profits calling for the protection of homeless, migrant and refugee populations amid the deadly coronavirus pandemic. Those without a safe shelter to call home around the world are among the most vulnerable people exposed to COVID-19. “People living in precarious situations are at greater risk for disease in normal times and need even more pro-tection now,” said Jennifer Poidatz, vice president of CRS’ humanitarian response department. “They often lack even the most basic of necessities, including clean water, food and proper sanitation.” CRS is one of more than 40 organizations around the world working with vulnerable populations who have signed a statement calling for the provision of adequate housing, food, access to basic hygiene and sanitation, and protective equipment for the displaced and those assisting them. Adequate COVID-19 testing is also urgently needed to mitigate the spread and provide treatment. With more than 70 million people displaced from their homes around the world, CRS sees this as more than a public health emergency: COVID-19 can cause massive disruptions to the liveli-hoods, safety and social cohesion of people in extremely tenuous circumstances – threatening their already limited access to shelter, food, education and ability to work. “Given the conditions so many men, women and children find themselves in after being displaced from their homes could mean this virus spreading like wildfire through shelters and camps, claiming many more lives and putting many more at risk,” Poidatz said. For refugees living in a camp, the congested environment and limited access to hygiene items like clean water and soap can make it difficult to follow the guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19. Hygiene supplies, clear information and social distancing practices are critical in camp environments. The ability to isolate and care for those who are sick is also es-sential during this crisis. In Mexico and El Salvador, for example, migrant shelters are closing for new arrivals, leaving people home-less and without support. In the Philippines and Indonesia, thousands still live in emergency shelters after being displaced by deadly storms and need to be moved into spaces with the possibility of social distancing and isolation. In Myanmar, people living in camps urgently need shelter, safe water and sanitation. CRS and its partners in more than 30 countries are expanding and adapting programming to prevent the spread and reduce the risk of COVID-19. This include prioritization of areas with ongoing emergency relief efforts – including in refugee and internally displaced settlements – given people’s existing high level of vul-nerability and needs well before this pandemic. “CRS teams are racing against the clock to design triage centers for health facilities and temporary centers for isolation,” Poidatz said. “We are also looking at modifications to shelters to allow spaces for quarantine where possible.”
