EASTER SUNDAY APRIL 4./5, 2015

I extend to all of you a most Blessed Easter. This day of Easter

Sunday and the Octave (the seven days following Easter Sunday)

celebrate the most important reality of our Faith, that Jesus Christ

rose from the dead in his body and is forever alive and that he

invites all who believe in him to share in this new life. May the

blessings of Easter come to your lives and homes..

Congratulations and welcome to those who were baptized and

who entered into full communion with the Catholic Church at the

Easter vigil on Holy Saturday. Those baptized were Aaron Arms

and Braylinn McMillian. Emily Rebahn entered into full com-

munion with the Catholic Church and Taymar Schmitt received

the Sacrament of Confirmation.

I extend a special thank you to all who were involved in assisting

with our Holy Week liturgies; to the ushers, readers, servers, ex-

traordinary ministers of the Eucharist, our choir, vocalists and

accompanists. The presence of the fourth degree Knights of Co-

lumbus was wonderful. Thank you to all who were involved in

decorating the Church and the sanctuary. Also, thank you to all

who made donations to cover the cost of the beautiful flowers that

grace the sanctuary.

We have some important celebrations coming up over the next

weeks.

Next weekend, we celebrate Mercy Sunday. As we did last year,

we shall pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy approximately five

minutes after each of the Masses. Please plan to stay and pray the

chaplet. Incense will not be used at the 10:30 Sunday Mass next

Sunday.

On Sunday, April 19th at the 10:30 a.m. Mass we shall celebrate

First Holy Communion. There will be a practice on Saturday,

April 20th for the first communicants and their parents at 10:00

a.m. We look forward to this wonderful day with the children.

On Thursday, May 23rd, the Sacrament of Confirmation will take

place at the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish,

Viroqua at 7:00 p.m. with Bishop William P. Callahan as cele-

brant. The practice will take place one hour (6:00 p.m.) before the

beginning of the Mass.

Finally, I wish to invite all of you next Saturday, April 11th to the

Richland Center Community Center for our parish’s annual

Sportsman’s Extravaganza. There will be good food and drink

along with opportunities to win various guns, bows, optics,

knives, and other items. Our PCCW ladies will be hosting a jew-

elry table. There will be numerous door prizes. There is no admis-

sion charge. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. The final raffle for the

evening is a choice between 40 acres of hunting land in northern

Wisconsin or a $25,000 cash prize. We ask that our workers

please arrive by 5:00 p.m. so you can receive some in-service and

get a plateful of good food. It is an excellent fundraiser for our

parish and a good time for those who attend. Tell your family

and friends to come.

Until I write again, may you and all the parishioners of Saint

Mary Parish have a blessed Easter Day and Season.

Monsignor Roger J. Scheckel

Next Sunday Divine Mercy Sunday We will be praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy After all the Masses.

Volunteers from among our parishioners are

needed on Saturday, April 11th for our

Hunter’s Extravaganza event at the Richland

Center Community Center from 6:00 – 10:00

p.m. Set up of the Community Center begins at

9:00 a.m. If you can help either in the morning

or evening (or both) Call the rectory and leave

your name.
